.375 H&H surprise

So there I was, practicing with my .375 H&H and testing some loads prior to bear season:

When I fired a three shot group at 100 yards:

Now I don't claim to be able to do that every time, but dang, I'm going to have to re-visit that load when I get some more 260 grain Accubonds! They also penetrate and expand well:

Just a healthy, but not max, load of H4350 under those Nosler Accubond bullets at about 2650 fps. Nothing like a sub 1/2' group from a 4,000+ ft-lb load, hand-held, to get my attention! Unfortunately, am about out of those bullets so I'll be hunting with 300 gr Hornady bullets, which are also shooting well, but not That well!

More later, I'll have to see if I can do it again... Maybe I just flinched right, to put 'em all into that group! Yeah, that's it!

Regards, Guy

I shoot a .375HH Rremington 700 Classic with a vais break. The gun shoots Hornady 300's about 3inches at 100 yards. At 450 yards it shoots about 3 1/2 inches. It must be a .375 thing. If I had judged by the 100 target I never should have fired at 450 but we shoot our loads at the range we plan to shoot and so before canning the load we tried it at 450 and the rest is history. That gun has now accounted for 7 Branch Bulls for 3 diffrent users. It has also helped a couple bulls that were wounded to no longer be wounded. Nothing like it for flat stopping power. Jeff

Shooting a .375 H & H Remington Krieger barrel w/ brake shooting 260 gr Nosler Partitons or the Accubonds 68.8 RL15 fed 215 primers outshoots my 30-06 with a Pacnor always 7/8 - 1 inch if I do my part.

How does a guy go from falling in love with a 204 Ruger to a 375 H&H in such a short time :)

That is definitely a pleasant surprise Guy.

A man doesn't have to have just one mistress, does he?:)
I have a Stainless Stalker in 375 H&H, haven't had the chance to blood it yet but it's coming.

I'm really impressed with the Accubonds accuracy. They are more accurate than my best 8x57 load of 200gr SMK.

I went with Varget for some 225gr loads @ 2550fps. They are accurate and with the mdl 70, they are easier on recoil than a heavy load of 300gr Partition.
