OLD SCHOOL - 300 H&H

My son has restocked and bedded a Remington 721 in 300 H&H, original 26" barrel. We have only loaded and shot Nosler 180 gr. Ballistic Tips and Partitions with 65.0 grains of IMR4350. This is primarily his elk rifle, but he has the affliction of pursuing 1/2 moa.

We have shot a couple of less than 1/2 in. 3-shot groups, both before and after restocking, but they are few and far between.

We are looking for some starting loads that some of you have had some luck with, either with IMR4350 or IMR7828. We also have Reloader 33 on hand.

What powder and bullets have worked well for you guys? Thanks

If the rifle doesn't like the bullet, changing the powder or charge weight will make no difference.

I shoot a 300H&H. I took my 1950 Winchester M70 300H&H to Africa in 09'. I figured my first trip to Africa deserved a classic rifle shooting a classic cartridge. It likes 200 grain Woodleigh's with H4831. A great classic cartridge.
