Powder for 375 H&H

I’m asking for a friend who just purchased a vintage Sauer 375 H&H. He’s looking to load a variety of weights, 260-300 grain, maybe even a bit heavier than 300.

I owned one years ago when I lived in bear country but that been decades. A quick dive into the subject brings up a lot of powder choices. I see RL 15 get mentioned a lot for lighter bullets, H4350 for 300s but there’s quite a few powders that come up.

If you have some insight or experience I’d appreciate the tips.

I've loaded for a friend's .375 H&H for many years. Just used WW760. He's taken elephant, lion, lot of other African game plus US & Asian game. It always shot well. He never had problems or complaints about the loads.

I used to load 4350 in mine and it shot very well, but the recoil made the bolt handle rap my knuckle and it started to give me a flinch. I switched to around 10 less grains of 4064, the velocity and accuracy was the same, and it stopped crashing into my knuckle. I'm not going to say it was easy to shoot from the bench, but my flinch went away and with Swift A Frames it would shoot 3 shots at or under 3/4", so I was pleased with it.
