350 to 500 yards

I don't think you can spot your own shots, but if you could or you had a spotter tell you where you hit I bet more than once you will say "How in the hell did that shot end up over there??". At which point you will start annalizing what made it do that.

You will learn alot more from your misses than from your hits!

I hunt Antelope and I recomend you practice on the clay targets shooting from your sitting position as most of the time you can not shoot prone. I stalk using the terrain to get close so I can make my shots. The longest shot I have taken/made was 325. I have killed every ant that I shot at, about 7. Wind is the biggest factor in antelope country, 10 to 15 mph is very common and I've seen in excess of 40. I've hunted Colo., Wyoming, Montana. I've used my 6.5-06 the most.

What i tell my friends that go shoot long with me for the first time is that ,500 750 1000, it is just a number.

Not recommended to divulge illegal activity on the net.
You would not be the first to be nabed by a fish cop off a forum page.
Shooting a lot of clays at unknown ranges will make you good in a hurry.

There are a lot of cops and other law enforcement that would be oblicated to say something. It is best to do the sss Shoot Shovel Shutup.

You have a very good 500 yard gun and load. Practice, practice.

A range finder is good to have along with a Bi pod or something to allow you to be stable for the shot.

Muzze breaks work wonders for the 7 mag.

Good luck!

There's one way to find out, as sure as any i'd think. Go to a local sniper-style match which is basicallya roving field course where steel silhouette targets are engaged at unknown distances out to sometimes 1000 yds. That'll be the best teacher u could ever have for longer ranges.

you should have stuck to your original question posted....

its a FED' Bird .... your reason does not give you the right ... not that anyone of us '?mite?' do the same... but in a 's s s' fashion as already mentioned
there have been No flames intended towards you, but just Good advise... so cool it..

make and sell the hay? sounds like you have free fertilizer.
besides, committing a federal crime with a firearm can have ALL your guns removed from your possession, and you wouldn't want that? so you recieved more great advice from here?

They can only be hunted during the FEDERAL MANDATED SEASON with a WATER FOWL STAMP......

Not sure where your COUNTRY is as you don't have your profile filled out.....my brother-in-law has the very same problem on the farm, they are every where in the fields and yards at certain times of the year of course though they like to fly off during HUNTING SEASON. I think his record for Snow's is 3 mins. and Canadian geese is 4 mins. to get his daily limit, all from his back yard. Even the VT State Guard has them on the rifle range...they get use to the "bang" and don't care where they $h!t.

i watched a show on tv a while back they used hurding dogs to control them
maybe you should get a couple of dogs... they would be happy chasing those quakers... i'm sure you have more to do during the day then watch geese
maybe you'd get them free from the pound ....

i betcha somewhere they do have elephants crapping on their property dont they? ;D

they hunt those now. i was watching television one day, take in mind, i haven't been in the gun and hunting thing in a while and was once anti gun. i seen a guy blast an elephant and almost fell out of my chair. then i read stories about it in mags. it still blows my mind. i'm sure the permits cost 10 gazzillion but still it blows my mind. i want to a liberal arts college. :D

have you tried opening a guide sevice? just a thought ?

now back on topic?
how's the clay bird shooting going?

clay pigeon shooting is a ball and its so nice to not have to go get the targets. i haven't got to shoot real long range though. i think i found a nice place to shoot. just been shooting my 221 so far. getting scope calibrations down. i havnt missed out to 250 for a while. i love the cooper model 21 i got. it's so smooth. i got my savage model 12 ftr sighted in for 350 but i gotta find longer ranges. it's not that tough to shoot that far. clay pigeons were only 12 bucks for 90. that's a lot of fun for the buck.

i need a box myself,i am down to my last 3.(note to self)
i am curious as to how you do as per your topic? 300-500 at random places when you learn to range, dial then shoot? i will bet that it will be a real learning experience!
report back when you get there.
