338 Lapua improved data

I wanted to share my load data on my version of the 338 lapua improved. This one is a 32" Krieger 9.35 twist. This is well used brass on its second firing after annealing. Necks brushed. 300 bergers jumped .010, sorted by oal only. Cci 250s and N570. Neck tension .003 seated with about 45lbs. Rl33 is also a good choice in this case, and it can shoot very well. Currently that combo holds the best 2000yd agg. I did all my shooting as 3 shot groups allowing the barrel to cool each time at 1008yds. Shooting from a bipod is a little slow so I do not look at poi shift as much as I normally would during load development. 20200524_090432.jpg 20200524_063821.jpg20200524_092514.jpg

Shooting a 30" Broughton 9.4 twist 338 improved. Sitting in a McM A5 Adjustable w/Stiller TAC action. Haven't done much LR and no ELR with it yet but at 500 yards it's holding roughly 3" groups. Clover leafs at 100 using 104 grains of R33. Not a stout load but still fire forming alot. I'll look for the best accuracy once all my brass is formed. Good looking rifle that looks to be a shooter. Good luck. John

I was right at 104.5 with 33. 3030 fps. 15 in 10 off and 50 off all looked good. I think Broughton made the best 338 barrel....

I'll give it a go Tomorrow at 2,075 yards myself after seeing your results. This was yesterday with rl 33, and cci 250s at my 2,075 yard spot. Tomorrow I want to compare it to my fed 215s (pet load), along with some n570 groups.

I couldn't be happier with this rifle over all. I purchased the barrel from you. It's a sendero contour. My next will be M24 as this is just a bit light for this cartridge IMO. Be perfect if it was strictly a hunting rifle. Can't wait to get 1000 yard accuracy then one mile groups. Nothing even close to me for 2K shooting.

I envy you guys that live out west and can jump in a vehicle and drive a few minutes, set up targets at over a mile and shoot all you want. Here in the east, if I can find 1200 yards from a logging operation and spend a half a day clearing a path to get to to set up a target and shoot, I'm happy. Then the following year it's grown up with brush and impossible to get too. Worse part is, I typically have to drive 4-5 hours to get to that logging location. Nice to see pics of your shooting locations. Very cool.

Its not quite as sweet as it may seem. In the open country where its easy to find spots to shoot far the wind is terrible. I usually have 20-30 minutes of decent conditions at first light, after that its a waste of bullets. Half the time its already blowing in the dark. In fact it is down right aggravating.
Dont forget the mirage! Half the good days are effed up by mirage. The stars have to align
