30BR

Looking at possibly buying a 30BR barrel but i have some concerns. My first and biggest concern is finding bullets. I have looked all over the internet and am not able to find an bullets for the 30 cal between 110 and 120g. I have 4 6br's so i have enough brass and i have several of the powders that is commonly used but the bullets thing has me worried. I dont want to spend the money to get one and then not be able to shoot it.

From the mainline manufacturers Berger have some offerings last time I looked. There would appear to be plenty of custom manufacturers with BIB being one of the most mentioned. There is a hive of information on the 30Br information on the home page of this site.

Jackets are the issue. Bart Sauter is now supplying high quality 30 cal benchrest jackets. Contact custom makers. They will be back in the game soon. The question then becomes backlog.

Your concerns are valid - in that there are only a couple of bullets available "off the shelf" like the Bergers mentioned. As O.P's mentioned - just plan on ordering your bulets with plenty of lead time and if you are lucky, you will be happy with the Bergers. I know guys who's rifles shoot them very well. Mine won't. I use Knight bullets and they work great in mine. Mine did also shoot the Berger 110's pretty well too.

Here are 2 customer bullet makers who make just the type bullet you're looking for. Give them a call.

1. http://rcheek.com/page3.shtml [99.9% of my 30's come from Ronnie.]
2. http://www.knightsbullets.com/

Don't know about the other custom bullet builders returning to the game. But I never left it. Been building bullets since 1954. And have not run out of jackets yet. I try to stay on top of my jacket inventory. I reorder when my jacket inventory gets down to about 2 years.

You might try Swader Miller (336-977-1587), also a relative newcomer to making benchrest quality 30 calibers. He is a vfs shooter himself and his bullets have been competing very well this year on the east coast.

I have 118gr FB 30 cal handmade bullets I can supply,if interested send me an email bcbinfo-go@yahoo.com
I can also make 125 & 135gr bullets. Been making my own bullets since 1954. One of my customers shot a .050 - 5 shot group at 100yds. with his 30 BR

You know, EPS bullets are fantastic bullets. James is a great guy to deal with, and there is no 8 to 12 month waiting period. I use his bullets exclusively (118 grainers) combined with my 30x47 Lapua. Unbelievable accuracy. I have also tried some 115 grain Bergers and some of Ronnie Cheeks bullets. The EPS bullets shot as good if not better than the other two. Several years ago, I did have a 30BR and used some BIB bullets and they were also a great bullet, but haven't ordered any because of the long waiting period ( Sorry Randy Robinett). Call James Easor up, order yourself 500 bullets, and go out and shoot one hole groups. What are you sitting there for??? Get going and make that phone call.
