Speer 30cal 125gr tnt
Caught these on sale the other day and was hoping someone could help me out with a starting powder load.Really cant find much about them except they are pretty decent if you sort them.I have h4198,vh130,benchmark, and I think some h322.Would like to hear from some who are using or has used these in their 30br...

I shoot those bullets in my 30 B-R with H-4895 and H-322. One of my favorite bullets for this cartridge.

TNT bullets (I've tried them in 6, 30, 22) are one of the best kept secrets out there.

+2 on the H222 recommendation. RL10X is good too.

Do you guys think I could just back off my powder maybe 10% from the 118 gr load and be safe. I have looked everywhere for some load data on the 125’s and their just aint much out there.

kmart thanks for reply,I have seen that before and only place I have ever seen the load for 125's lol.
joshb I hadnt seen that thread before thanks for posting.
Just hoping to hear from some thats using/used this bullet before...Guess I should have mentioned my barrel is a 17 twist 3 groove at 24" also....

I had a long discussion with Randy Robinett about using 125s. My Sierra’s were not stabilizing in my 17 twist. The length of the bullet was causing the problem. The TNT is shorter. You may still be on the edge of stabilization with it. Try them and see.
I bought a thousand TNTs to use in my 30 brs and 30x47. Just as I was gathering my components, I bought a 6.5x47, a 6xc and let my 30s gather dust.

Strange enough, the Sierra reloading manual, Edition V has a section on the 30 BR. These loads were worked up in a 10 twist barrel, but should give you a starting point.

Per BRGUY's post, the Speer .30 Cal. 125 TNT is a very good bullet - especially for non-competitive shooting. The Lot I have (from about Y2K), are close to Al's, measuring .925" long, and should be perfectly stable - Sg >1.5 (Std conditions) - via 1:18" twist, or, faster. :) I still get an occasional customer threatening to quit using BIB bullets and use the TNT.:D The Speer TNT jackets, some of which I still have, feature internal longitudinal "ribbing"/scoring, which I presume, is to promote expansion. I have shot a ton of them in both my 30 BR & 30x47 they shoot lights out ! I used the same load as I did with my 118 BiBs, but I wasn't shooting over the top max loads either !

Thanks guys appreciate everyones's help.

kmart,Have the sierra v edition and could of swore I had looked for 30br data before.Went and took a double take and you are correct its in there lol...

joshb, RGRobinette has helped me also over the phone, great guy who makes great bullets, but find it hard to believe the conversation was long.Just kidding had to aggravate Robinette a little. He has always took time out to help me and Im sure he is a very busy feller...

AINyhus,RGRobinette,If you guys say they will shoot I have no doubt they will..

rangertim,Thanks for sharing your experience with this bullet...Im thinking about just backing off from my regular bib 118gr load and start from there....

Speer TNT is all I shoot now for varmints. They are accurate, explosive, and a "best buy". They're also built in my hometown. I shoot them in 223 Rem (50gr), 6mm Rem (70gr), 250 AI (87gr) and 270 Win (90gr).

I shot the 125 gr tnt in my 30br they shot good at 100 yards

It's been a while, but me too. They shot surprisingly well for me. Cheap too!

Try Speer's 130 gr. Hollow Point. It does very well in my longer barreled 30 B-R with a 3 groove 1-12" twist rate barrel.
