30br Neck

Looked at every thread on this forum, and can’t seem to find anything. Sending my barrel off the the smith next week to have it chambered in 30br. (First 30br)

Question:

.330 or .332 neck? Does it matter, or are we splitting hairs? What is your 30br?

I had Alex Wheeler chamber mine with a .332" chamber, It allows a thicker neck on the brass which gives a little more tension on the seated bullet which in MY rifle, helps in getting better release on firing? All I know is that it has helped shrink MY groups!
How do you know since it was never a .330? Sounds like your justifying your choice not tested imformation. Now if you chambered as a .330 afrter shooting it,as a .332 you would have factual results for your barrel.

I have come to prefer neck-wall thickness of >.010" - were I to purchase a new .30BR reamer, it would have a 331" neck. That said, so long as there is enough wall thickness to fully uniform, and provide >0.002", total
chamber : neck clearance, there is no down-side to thicker. RG

Doesn't matter if it's a 330, 331 or 332. In the end it comes down to the shooter to pull the trigger at the right time. Your bullet isn't going to notice the difference of what the neck thickness is just like your bullet isn't going to know the difference what degree shoulder it's being released from just like The Ballistic Idiot told me a half dozen times.

I started with the .330 .035 FB for my first 2 barrels, I have since gone to a .332nk 0 FB and like it better.
Mainly for brass prep reasons. Set one of the .330 back a thread and rechambered it with the .332 reamer, and I honestly can't tell the difference. Barrel has 2250 rds through it and shoots dots. I have a fresh one broken in waiting on the shelf that shoots just as well if this one ever wears out. My shooting compadre Steve Epstien (of Epstien Magic Bullets fame) also has 2 of the 1-17 Kriegers chambered with this reamer and both of his shoot dots as well.
I think you really have to work at it to make a 30 BR shoot poorly.
Just my experience, YMMV
