30BR action?

Just had 1 built on what passes for Remy 40X action these days. $400 from Buds. Out of stk rt now and who knows with Remys troubles if it will ever be in stk again.

I have used trued Remingtons, Bats, and Panda's. I favor Panda's because they are the only action that holds universal dimensions of the barrel threads enabling any smith to supply a barrel without the action in hand (with the exception of very early manufactured units). They got the fire control system right the first time. I also like the aluminum construction as I feel it provides better vibration dampening......and the people there are #1 in customer satisfaction.

Do you use the panda with or without the recoil lug? Also do you bolt them in or just glue them? If you glue them what glue do you use and what bedding compound?

Panda's footprint is such that a recoil lug is not needed for SR BR calibers (square rear tang). Glued in. I don't know what Sid Goodling used for epoxy back in '07 and '09.

I would use a dual port melonited Bat B action. Most folks end up jamming the 30 br bullets hard in the lands and I think this ends up being a little hard on the lugs. This is why I would use a melonited Bat action.

I know this is an older thread, but was looking to upgrade from a 30BR barreled Remington that I bought used a little over a year ago. Does anyone use a Haverkamp action, yes or no and why. Been looking at all the actions out there. It would be used for UBR.

Thanks,
Tim

I have a Haverkamp action that I use for 6.5 x 47 L and a 6-6.5 x 47 L combined with Kreiger barrels and a Jewel trigger. Between the two calibers I have +2k rounds with no problems and great accuracy; considering adding a 30 BR barrel myself.

I'm using a bat ds. I like the one I have so I chose what I know.

I'm also having an old 6bra barrel cut back to use on it. (13.5lb)

My existing 6bra (17lb) has a bat ds. The two bra's are both chambered alike.
So, I'll have 3 guns !
