30br action choice?

I was thinking a pillar bedded setup.
IMO the best way is to Glue & screw. I've had a glue in job come apart on me and I vowed that was the last time I was going to own a rifle with just a glue in bedding job. As far a someone saying a Bat is the best, well that's pure horseshit. The only thing about a Bat action is that it's the most popular right at this point in time but that's it. If you have a rifle built by a reputable gunsmith whether it be a Panda, Bat or Rimrock who specializes in SR benchrest like Ronnie Long, Bob Greene, Sid Goodling, Jim Borden, Dave Bruno, ect well that's one thing less that you have to worry about. It's not going to make you a better shooter, but it's a solid basis from which to start. Then there is the fact that you need to know how to tune a rifle, read the flags, and pull the trigger at the right time. See there are too many variable to pinpoint one thing that will win you matches. It's a combination of a lot of things and a little luck.

Really, let's hear why. I'm always in the mood for a good laugh.
+1 Like comparing Accurate to Avet. The Accurate looks like a piece of finely polished jewelry, but doesn't perform a damn bit better than Avet. I own and have used both.

What model Borden should I look at ? I want to consider all my options.

Like I said before this will be shot for score at 100yds . There is no weight limit in our class. The only limit is 2 piece rest and limited to 3 inch forearm. Also front rest must use sandbag and use of rear sandbag.

Talk to Jim Borden. He happens to know a bit about it. Also talk to Alex Wheeler. He has analyzed enough actions to give you an honest opinion about what works out of the box and what needs minor/major surgery.

For SR score either the B, BR, or BRM.

I don't imagine this applies to you however I shoot at our club matches and use a XR100, Hart barrel with a RAS. It wouldn't matter what action I used because my 30 br has enough recoil that it upsets it's self every shot and I have to regroup .
I know I need a heavier rifle etc. just saying.

Starting a build list for a 30br for local 100yd for score benchrest and am looking for action recommendations.

What would you suggest? Looking for right bolt right port.

Thanks

(The two Borden's I have are both Excellent - model BR & BRLXD) - I'd go with a BR or BRM for a 30 BR.

BAT also offers some excellent actions - regardless of what's been said, there's a reason they are chosen. - And they are by No Means the only option.
- Focus on not just quality parts but who's doing the work, and of course yourself as the shooter.

I would go with a custom action rather than a "gone-thru & upgraded factory" action.

The reason I mentioned Borden & BAT - Those are what I have ownership experience with, I'm sure the other custom action makers offer very well built actions as well.

All The Best -

Theres a reason at the matches you see 97% bats and the rest pandas. Its not a follow the leader type thing either. Kelbly actions have been at the top of the equipment lists for 30+yrs and bat has had the majority since the day they came out. Ask any of the top br gunsmiths what they use and recommend. Theres a reason they win- i can assure you if there was a better action it would take about a week for them to show up on the equipment lists.

What makes a BAT better than Borden Rimrock? Just curious? The Borden seem to be easier to get here in Canada.

I have been told enough times "your the first one to complain about that" that I have my doubts many actions truly get checked out. Some of the things I read here reinforce that in my mind.

Are you talking about Borden? What complaints did you have?

I asked a similar question at one point and never got any clarity, so I'd still like to know the reason why BAT is better than a Panda or Borden.

I think a lot of the good shooting Bats ! Had the Firing pin assembly worked over by some of the Top name gunsmiths D. Scott, Dave Bruno, Alex wheeler, Wayne Campbell ! Even the best can sometimes be improved ! I'm sure if you ask the Top name gunsmiths that built BR wining rifles, that they check the action out to make sure it's hitting on all cylinders before they start their work ! Like anything else sometimes things just slips Thur the cracks ! Action tuning is a Good" thing

When you talk to whoever you pick to buy your components from, make sure that you discuss the specific rules that you guys shoot under. It’ll make a difference.
