.243 versus 30BR recoil comparison

Was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of the approximate increase in recoil I would receive from firing a 30BR versus a .243 if both rifles weighed the same.

The .243 would be shooting a 70gr. BTHP, while the 30BR would have a 117gr bullet.

Just trying to get an idea as a already have a heavy barreled .243 and am considering having a 30BR built for benchrest score shooting.

Thanks for any opinions.

Your 30BR for score would weigh 13.5 lbs. The weight of the gun makes a huge difference in the felt recoil.

My advice to you is to attend a local VFS match and ask to shoot someone's 30. Folks are proud of their rifles and eager to get someone started in the game.

If your IBS score rifle is for VH or LV class, it will not weigh 13.5#. LV is 10.5 and VH is 10. My wife shoots VH and recoil has never been a problem for her.
