30br 1:14 26'' Krieger BULLET/ LOAD RECOMMENDATIONS PLEASE

BOLTED

Silver $$ Contributor
Rifle gets here next week! It's a used S&S Precision Savage 12, trued and blued. Only 50 rounds down the pipe, so it's almost brand new. 30br is a new one to me.

Can anyone give me some good ideas to start with for this gun? I have been reading A LOT about the 30br, but I still have not found any solid info for the 1:14. Odd twist I guess?

Bullets, weight range, and manufacturer suggestions would be great, as well as powder and or load data. A couple of ideas to start me in the right direction is what I'm after.

There is quite a bit of good info on this site and others, and I like doing the homework, I just think that maybe someone out there could help me get a little more specific to my particular situation. That in turn, would help me get more satisfying time behind the trigger, so thanks in advance to anyone willing to share some of their knowledge with me.

Did you buy it for benchrest or for hunting? Are you planning on shooting the regular foder of 110-125 gr bullets or are you planning on a bigger bullet?

EVERYTHING you want or need to know about the 30BR is right here: http://www.accurateshooter.com/cartridge-guides/30br/

It's founding fathers have shared their secrets. :)

The plan is to just find a good combo that works in the gun, then work more on my part. I shoot from a bench, but I don't think I would qualify as a benchrest shooter. I love this site, but I have never competed with anyone but myself, so right now I am just trying to soak up all the information I can.

Yes, the 30br page is awesome, and I have read it about 6 times (6 more to go).

I posted this on the 30br forum after I accidentally posted it here as well.

I just wasn't finding much info for the twist I have, so I figured I would see if I could pick some brains out there.

It sounds like high teens FB might be a good start, and just see what happens.

Didn't think much about using it for hunting, but it would probably work for whitetails. That would be awesome.

Got a suggestion for 125-135 Bergers.

This is going to be fun.

I have built 4 30BR's with 12-14 twist barrels and they all shot best with 125 to 135 grain bullets and 4198 powder. I loader 155 and 168 grain bullets with good results but the 125 were by far the best. Ross
