Took some Privi Partizan 308 match ammo and set the cartridge base to ogive length to 2.210 with a bullet seating die. Had to lengthen some with a bullet puller before seating them to length. All where under 1.5MOA and many under 1.0MOA at 100 yards. Not much work for those numbers. Did that for a 300 rounds. Privi Partizan is about 60 percent of the Federal Gold Medal Match cost. Buying a Hornady OAL gauge, calipers, Lee Challenger Press, bullet seating die, and inertial bullet puller is a about a $150 investment. I’m surprised that more people don’t do this. The only negative is that easy to slip into reloading your own from there.
Why is "slipping into reloading" a negative? I get better rounds for cheaper than factory.
To the OP question. 4-5 years ago, I bought several thousand rounds of Federal in bulk 500 round boxes. Think it worked out to be $9.50/20. Shoots pretty good. I use it for "training newbies".
