300BLK Hog Exterminating Loads?

The guy that i do some work for that has a REAL hog problem used a 220 swift. After he got shucked off a horse and broke his arm he went to a 300blk or a 22 hornet. The swift is the killing machine. He says that speed kills.
That is a true statement.

How fast do you push the two bullets?
I am using H110 powder and #450 / #41 primers. For convenience I run the same load through my 8" SBR, 16" AR, and 18" bolt gun. All of these loads were designed around my SBR and are not hot or optimized for the longer barrels. Also, the velocities will increase at higher temperatures. I am in Houston so my seasonal temperature extremes can swing 70F...call that an extra 100fps of velocity from winter low to summer high. I checked my notes and these were tested during winter at 40F-45F so they are lower than normal shooting conditions for me which average 50F in winter and 85F at night in summer.

Barnes TAC-TX 110gr are approximately 2054fps, 2241fps, 2300fps
Speers TNT 125gr are approximately 2000 fps, 2095 fps, 2170 fps (not loaded hot)

Once I burn through my inventory I will tweak the load to optimize in my 16" barrel, which is go to for night hunting.

Note: By comparison loads that I tailored to my 18" bolt rifle using 125gr SMK are achieving +2400fps. Due to the longer magazine length, I can load bullets out to 2.30" which frees up additional case capacity for additional powder.

I’m going to run the 150 GD at about 1,865 and see what happens. My set-up isn’t ideal for chasing max loads. I had it at 1,920 but want to make sure I’m safe and feeding properly. Thermal zeroed, counting down the days.
In under the right eye. Out the the pooper in the stinky ole sow. She was tough. Made it about 100 yards into the thick stuff so I didn’t find her til morning. The GD will penetrate.

also got a smaller sow with a poor shot to the hind quarters. We ate her straps.

I have had good luck with the Speer 130 grain hollow points (#2005). I have shot two large boar hogs and a doe with them. All three broadside shots, All pass throughs. Hogs were 100 and 40 yards, the doe was about 80 yds.

17.9 gr of Win 296, WSR primer, RP brass. 2197 fps, SD 7.2
