300 WSM

My preferred hunting load for the 300 WSM has proven to be sub-MOA and frequently sub-half in three out of three rifles I’ve tried it in.

168 TTSX
66.5 RE17
CCI250
0.050” from lands

This load has hammered deer and elk with such extreme prejudice that I don’t think a single critter has gone more than a few yards once hit.

I do not want to get snippy but, AGAIN???? You sound like an expert. I have to ask, How many 1000 yd records do you hold shooting a 300 WSM with 210 Berger bullets?
Mike they shoot good in an 11 twist also. I shot both twists and can't see much difference. Maybe the 10 was slightly better when conditions were bad. Matt

If you can find IMR-7828ssc and 180 & 190 gr Nosler Accubond / Accubond LR......

Start at 66 and work up to 69 gr. You will definitely find a accurate load with this combo and good velocity to boot.

Well, lets see....I shoot a Dasher sometimes in LG and the rest of the time I shoot 300 WBY and/or 300 WSM. I ALWAYS shoot either a 300 WBY or a 300 WSM in HG and I ALWAYS shot the 210 untill I started to tinker with the 200, 215, and 230. And MOST of my tubes are 1-11....about 12 in total I have two 1-10 and one 1-12.

I have no records, but , my SHOOTING RECORD STANDS ON ITS OWN, including an IBS National Championship. The WORST I ever finished at the IBS Nationals is a 14th or 15th place finish my first year. I have been out of the game for the last couple of years, but I'm pretty sure the laws of Physics have not changed.

Oh, and by the way....I have a dozen or so boxes of 210 VLD's, both target and hunting....20171213_161208.jpg 20171213_161236.jpg and EVERY one of them says 1-11.

Just checked my records....I was on the 210 VLD till mid 2012 when I switched to the 215 in my 11 twists and I think the 230 in my 10 twists roughly the same year. Also I tried the 200's in my 12 twist about the same time.....the 187 BIB was a no-go for me...wouldn't get to target. Shot AWESOME!!

By the way, i was being told that I couldn't do the 215's in an 11 twist and the 200's in a 12 twist.

Just sayin..If you are going to BUILD and plan on shooting XYZ bullet, use the Litz Twist calculator and and build accordingly. BUT, if things don't work out, or you like to tinker, TRY some outside the box thinking. I understand...LITZ is A god in our little world, but he is not THE GOD.....A god understands the physics...THE GOD controls the physics. All it will cost you is the price of a couple of bullets and some powder to try.

Good shooting,
Tod

For the kid’s sake shoot the 168 ttsx’s or the 180 accubond. Lighter bullets= less recoil, reduced recoil = increased accuracy. Either of those bullets will easily take any elk or deer.

:oops::oops::oops:
I do not know what to say. I WAS WRONG. If you want to shoot kinda of good, you do not have to use a 1-10 twist barrel for 210 bullets.

Ok Guys.... when we responds to a blog topic asking for advice, everyone chimes in with their opinion to try to help out the person. Some respond are based on having in depth knowledge and some with some knowledge and what they heard and read. It is an opinion. There is no way to tell which feedback is better and it does not really matter..... That is for the user to determine... It is not necessary to put down any comments you do not agree with, or make comments about it , correct spelling etc. Enjoy the sport, shoot often, and have a Merry Christmas.....

Sorry, but if someone gives the poster..lets say he/she is a newbi...the advice to run 65 grains of Hodgdon Tightwad behind the Berger 210 in the WSM, it is ABSOLUTLY NECESSARY to comment about it!!

I'm not saying a difference opinion in twist rates is going to get anyone killed, but this entire website thrives on correct information. How is a newbi suppose to tell the difference? I'll tell you how, it is by wrong advice being corrected.

I gave advice that a 10 twist was not necessary for the 210. I did not do it condesending ly...I did not put anybody down, and was then accused of being a know it all. Am I suppose to not chime in, or make comments about it"... simply because you said 10 twist is necessary FIRST? If that was the case, then EVERY thread would be two posts long....question and 1 answer....even if that answer is wrong...because we are not supposed to comment on somebody else's post?

I am pretty sure that that is not how this place works!! If it wasn't for somebody correcting somebody else's bad advice, where would you be right now.....I know for a fact that I wouldn't have a wall full of state and national championships.

The way I see it, the problem is not ususally that someone is being corrected, it's the RESPONCE AFTER being corrected where the problem starts....I've seen it a thousand times..and am guilty of said offence more than once. AND, I have been corrected MANY, MANY times...and rightfully so...because my info was bad or my opinion was wrong. It's life.....well, its INTERNET life.

I don't know what else to say about it...I guess it's nice to know that at least I used to shoot "kinda of good". :D
