G’day Laurie.

I’m in Australia and while we have a sprinkling of pairs events here in Australia most events are string fire, and in pretty warm weather too!!

Here the SAUM is very popular and at long ranges in Queens prizes is probably more prevalent than a 284win on the line.

Even the SAUM is looking for a setback before 1000rounds here according to most who shoot them with AR2209

Well, there has not been a lot of success with the 284 in BR. They shoot good, very good, but you just dont see them win often. The 300 WSM on the other hand has proven to be able to shoot with the 6mm's for groups. The only reason not to shoot a wsm is if you cant take the recoil.

Lol. I’m not gonna shoot a 300 for midrange.

I shot our 2013 Camp Pendleton Mid Range Regional (6 20X600) three days after returning from the Nationals and Worlds at Raton. All I had loaded was leftover ammo for my .300 WSM, 230 hybrids. I shot 1188-63X, high score for all disciplines. Third match each day had steady 16 mph crosswinds with gusts to 25. It would not be my first choice at 600, but it certainly did the job. As Alex noted, a good .300 WSM can hang with 6mms and win, provided you can manage the recoil.

These are easily available here

Mine really likes about 61 grs of H4350 and Fed 215s with a 210 SMK or a 208 AMAX. It'lI shoot the 210s and 208s into the same group

I have done equally as well with both 10 and 11. If Ihave to pick between them, it would be hard. I feel the 11 might hold an advantage if calm, for smaller groups but believe a 10 was better in conditions. Maybe companies need to put a 10.5 in their standard lineup. Matt

Anyone burn down a 20 shot Fclass string with a 300WSM? Is it even doable in 3-4 minutes? I can see it being great for pair firing. I've been thinking about the 300WSM as well but I'm not sure it's better day in and day out.
