Does it take y'all that many shots to hit the target?
Sorry… I couldn't resist.![]()

I told you before son>>>YOU ARE HOOKED!!! It's only a matter of time! Since you are going to have one>>>might as well get it on the next barrel!@rardoin @Kyle Schultz I’ve never been to a PRS match... but I have been to many Fclass matches and watched MANY very seasoned Fclass shooters not be able to get on target.
Are you sure you dialed up from 100? YES of course! Pull the target again. No sorry no impact..! Well well did you see any indication? NOPE... send another..?! Ok. You are not making it over the berm!! No way. I diAled in yesterday! Hmmm ok. Well double check your come ups!? Oops ok I was dialing in from 300 and I have a 100 yard zero and I’m 1 revolution off...! So good thing there are unlimited sighters for some. And no I will not admit to being a revolution off
Ok sorry back to our regular scheduled program of 300 Wizz’M WOW’ing!! This thread makes my wallet acheNo more cartridges no more cartridges... oh well what’s 1 more
ha!
WOW! You got a sticky bolt eh? With my testing, I went up past 66 grain to about 2950 and no sticky bolt lift! I have a "relatively" long freebore, however, it is not excessive by any stretch. Differing barrels, differing lots of powder, all add up to different results. However, there are a number of people whom I trust loading-wise, that all shoot the 2910-2915 node with no ill effects from pressure whatsoever.. That why I have this saying: "Barrels are like women. When you climb into bed with them, they tell you what they like, not the other way around!"We had a 900yard shoot yesterday.
Fired a only few more rounds through the WSM, 66gr of 2213SC have me 2915fps but it also gives me the occasional sticky bolt, too high!!
Looks like I’ll have to find a node somewhere in the mid 2800’s with this 30” barrel and the 215’s.
Still have RL23 to try.
66 grains X 80 shots = 5280 grains ÷ 7000 grains (1 lb) = .754 pound. That looks like "¾ lb or so".Methinks maybe a tad more than that!

Here's an update. Ben won our local club's 500 yard championship with his 300 WSM...guess it's accurate enough for mid-range! http://forum.accurateshooter.com/threads/john-martin-cup-results.3974334/
Congrats Ben....the legend of the 300 WSM grows...lol.
Yes pressure at around 2910fps with 2213SC
Remember my barrel is only 30” long as well
Hoping to get a hold of some RL23 and try for that node again.
In two weeks time I am going to a dedicated load test weekend on ET’s at 1000 and 1200yards, hoping to get some load development done while I’m there.
I have found this to be true in both my Shehane and SLR.You should find less pressure with RL23 at the same velocity.
I have used RL-23 in a .260A.I., 7 SAUM and a .284 and shot F-Class matches with no ill effects from "excessive carbon" for all 3 matches. I have a friend who went to a 2 day (3 x 600 /1000 2 days) event with me and he did not clean his rifle. He went thru the first day and thru 2 matches of day 2 and then it finally fell apart on the last match.. I have been thru several 2 day matches shooting H4350, H4831sc and H1000 with zero accuracy loss. The RL powders are a bit dirtier but you can make a FULL day (3 matches) with no problems.Have you been able to go 70-90 rounds without cleaning and still maintain the high level of accuracy needed with RL23??
Ben i am too paranoid, if the rifle shot great the first day after a good cleaning I clean again for second day. Again paranoid but better safe than sorry.I have used RL-23 in a .260A.I., 7 SAUM and a .284 and shot F-Class matches with no ill effects from "excessive carbon" for all 3 matches. Hello Nick! There 'taint nothing wrong with a clean rifle! Many, if not most, of the TOP shooters will clean their rifle after every match. It's not paranoia! It's a good practice! I am just a lazy old man!Ben i am too paranoid, if the rifle shot great the first day after a good cleaning I clean again for second day. Again paranoid but better safe than sorry.
