300 win mag data

Looking for some load data and velocities for 300 win mag, IMR 4350 powder, and Hornady 200 gr ELDX bullets.
I've loaded some up near the max powder charge that my book said and am seeing no pressure problems and still looking for that 'Max' load but I don't want to have it blow up in my face!

Much appreciated.

24" barrel ??? - 2,850 fps should be no problem.

Max Powder Charge Weight will vary quite at bit depending on Brass make, chamber freebore and COAL.

If you're developing your load in colder temp, you might not want to go more than 2,850 fps because in the summer you will get pressure signs.

4350 seems a little fast for the 300 WM ? RL 23 works well for me but i have a 26" Pac Nor heavy barrel. I get 2875 fps with 208 eldm's with great accuracy. When i pushed it to 3000 fps pockets were getting loose.

Here is the Hodgdon data:

The IMR-4350 is too fast in my opinion. I generally try for a full or nearly full case where all the powder gets burned inside the barrel so it's a definite balancing act.

Although I don't use the ELD-X bullets I will use the Berger 200 gr. Hybrids or some of the last of my Hornady 208 AMAX. These bullets are approximately the same length as the ELD-X.

Powders I use are Norma MRP, H-1000, Re-25 and VVN-160.

What I used and got the best velocity & grouping with was:
Super WW brass, CCI large rifle magnum primers, 68.5 Gr IMR 4350, and 200gr ELDX. No pressure signs, average 5 shots of 2834 FPS, and approximately a 1" group at 100 yrds.
(69 gr yielded 10 FPS faster and 1 1/2 -2" group)

What was the outside temp and how log is the barrel ??

If you want, with the 68.5 gr load, you can try adjusting the seating depth in or out in 0.010" increments to see if accuracy tightens up.

I personally feel 1 moa is more than enough accuracy to hunt with.
