300 PRC Berger 220 LRHT w H1000

Hi everyone
Currently trying to fine tune my load with this combination. I am looking to see if anyone else has success with this combination in the 2900+ fps

I have a load that shoots one ragged hole just 0.020 off the lands. Speed is 2844-2855. I tested it in 3 different conditions and it shoots very consistent but I am looking for 2900+ fps
All of my tests was done at 100 yards since getting to 400 is a bit of a hassle and I want to have a good starting point before I go there.

Rifle build:
Defiance Ruckus
Bartlein 5r HV @ 28’’
Cortina tuner set at 0

Lapua x1 fired
Berger 220 LRHT
Cci br2
77.8-78.1 grs H1000

Thanks for sharing your load info in advance.

Why 2900+?

Where do you see pressure at currently? If h1000 wont get there may need something else, maybe retumbo? Its been abit faster than h1000 for me in my 28 nosler stuff. Or one of the vihtavuori powders

I saw a lot of guys getting 2900+ with H1000 and Berger 215 hybrids

On my second barrel now with 215s and H-1000, I do my testing at 600 yards. Unlike some, I wanted a slower load for this barrel. For whatever reason, it didn't tighten up till I got close to 3000. I've tried the 220s and for me, the 215s shot inside them. If your load holds up at distance, stop.

I would be happy with what you have. I have loaded for two 300 prcs with 215s with N570 and low nodes best in both rifles. 2930 fps with N570 and 2910 fps with H1000. Look at ballistics and not that much difference at 1000 yds

Thats the same exact load I found in my buddys 300 prc that I built for him except we used cci 250 primers. Wanted a bit more pop in the cold weather we hunt in. Ive had issues with BR2 primers in cold weather. Rifle shoots amazing. Last two groups we shot were 1.2" @ 600 and 2.5" @ 1000. Same speed as yours. Who cares about 50-75 fps. Its a couple clicks and is harder on the brass. Shoot the load that hammers and is mild. They shoot day in and day out. VS the higher nodes that are very narrow windows generally.

What was your jump with 220s?

Gentlemen, been thinking about building a 30 cal for LR hunting to replace my 7WSM. How does the 300 PRC compare to the 30 Nosler in powder capacity and accuracy potential? What performance are you getting with the 220s? Thanks

You would have to shoot wayyyyy out there to see in difference in 2850 to 2900. Run it through your ballistic calculator and look at the drops and wind deflection.

How far jump or jam?
What velocities?
I haven't used the 220s for a while after I initially developed the load, But the 245s which are my main load right now are jammed + .020, ES for the 245s has been below 10 fps, ES for the 220s were below 13 fps.
Berger 245s @ 2830 fps
Berger 220s @ 2890 fps
