30 br powder ?

I don't get if Frankie. Your getting bolt click at 34.6? A lot of people that I know are running 35 grains or a tad over that of H4198 with no problems at all. I've tested with loads above my normal go to load of 34.5 many times and it never did that to me. That lot must be really fast if your getting 3170 out of 34.5. I'm getting right at about 3100 with 34.5 and my own 108's. I've got 8 different lots of 4198 and have tested all 8 and they are all pretty close. I have a 9th lot that I bought in 2017 that I haven't tested but I have twelve 8 pounders of that stuff and I'm not going to break open a new container just to test it out.
I'm going back out this week hopefully and retest, taking 33.8 up to 34.4 and see, I had before 34.4 to 35 to test but the first click and I was done! Will update when I get out. What speeds are the getting at 35 grains?

I would have to ask them Frankie. I hear them talking about what powder charges they use but I never asked what they are getting for velocity.

N130 was the original powder ronnie long recommended as he built some of the first ones
Recently tested some VV-N130 and would say It performed well with this bullet.

Naw, have one to thread on and one of the BAT DS try. The PPC I got from Harvey (after I turned the brass to get more clearance and changed to LT32 28.9 grains!) is shooting lights out if I can do my job. We'll see on Saturday!

The first 10 are the 34.4 and the 11-21 are 34.6, see anything wrong? I can learn!!
Frankie. I just dug up a target back on 9-1-20. I was breaking in a Douglas 17TW 30BR barrel that Bob Green chambered for me in June of 2020. I don't buy Douglas blanks but I traded an 8 pound container of LT30 for this blank that Cline won as a prize at some Nationals I believe in NC. I tried shooting 35.2 and 34.7 of 4198 with a 115 grain bullet that the guy who I bought my dies from made. With 18 rounds fired using 35.2 I averaged 3127fps. So u my friend have a really fast lot of 4198. What lot number is it?

I'll check in the morning and post it, or a really HOT barrel! ;-)

I know I've gotten slow lots of 4198. I have some of the black kernel stuff that Allie Euber would kill for that is almost 100 fps slower than any other lot that I have. I got it when I bought all of Dave Apple's stuff in April of 2019. He had 4 jugs with the same lot number that is the usual greenish yellow kernels and this oddball 8 pounder with the black ones. I was talking with Jeff Peinhardt 3 weeks ago and we were talking about N133. He told me his lot of 2019 powder is really hot compared to anything that he's used. I told him that my friend in Maine who I shoot against sold me about 7 and one half pounds of 2015 N133 which was about 75fps slower than any other lot of 133 that I have and I have about 12 different lots dating back to 1994. He couldn't get enough of that lot in his PPC to get it to work. I put that lot in my 30x47 and it produced the highest velocity of any 133 that I tested in that case.

@JimPag at the range yesterday only shot 8-10 shots with 33.6 gns of the 19 H4198 and was still well over 3150 so may go back tomorrow with everything to load but from my math (that could be dangerous) I need to be around 32.5 to get to 3050 fps so if I go I'll let you know, also liked the N130, shot some really good groups.
