30 AR in a bolt gun

You know, other than having to put up with spotty availability of brass that's a great solution.

Just another reminder that I tend to let my view get skewed by my own situation (30 Major and 30 BR components and dies in house).

If someone wasn't worried about brass and resale on the rifle and dies, the 30 TC would be a similar play.

I've repeatedly toyed with the idea of a TC Icon in 30 TC to shoot in factory class. Mike keeps scaring me off of it, though. Says he hasn't seen one that is a good shooter yet.

I think you can make 300 savage pretty easy from .308 or the like but the case would be slightly thicker.Look around,I think you will find some 300 savage without much trouble or advertise for it,you only need about 50 cases to get you going.

Thanks for all the info. If I did my math correctly I can build a 4lb. 12oz full size rifle with a 24"bbl in a rem 700 s/a foot print. Theres a bbl. company in AZ. where I might be able to loose some weight in the bbl. and I'm only going with a 20" bbl. but I may use one of my stocks that I make and would gain about 6 oz. there. The brass issue for the 30AR you guys are right, too much of a pain. So I decided to go with a 250 savage imp. as mentioned before I only need around 50 rnds I will probably buy Lapua 22-250 brass and be good for life.
Thanks
Jesse
