260AI roll call

Just tell her you're going out to get flowers.
Lol, I just finished planting the flowers in the yard! Now time for a shower and then dinner.

It's your anniversary too.
hell I took fishing rods on our honeymoon.
Good point! But I am looking forward to a nice steak tonight.

Going to go through my brass and process some this weekend at some point.

Give Andrea our love, been shoveling dirt all day myself...
Now to head down stream for rocks and a lil fishing

Finally got my 260AI barreled action in from Old Dominion/ @WSMNUT . He screwed one of @Bill Norris 's tube that only had a couple hundred rounds through it. Got to pick up a suitable stock for it and replicate Bills success with it.
Absolutely I'm certain it will duplicate. We have load data and the barrel has shown over and over it can shoot with the pack any day.

I've always had good luck in any 260AI barrel with 44gr H4831 to fire form and somewhere right around 48gr H4831 for formed, under any 139-142 grain bullet.

I agree. 47.5 gr. of H-4831 is the ticket with that bullet weight in my rifle with Lapua brass. Probably could go up to 48.0 gr. but accuracy is best at 47.5 gr. Terry Cross was loading 48.5 gr. in his rifle back a few years but he was using Remington brass.

My last barrel really liked 48gr H4831 and 140 in lapua brass, dropped to 47.5 in Peterson brass.

I'll bet he was tossing the brass after four or five cycles.
It's a pretty good article from here on the site. Lot's of cool info. I enjoyed reading it.

You guys got me curious. I'm running a Broughton 8T at 28". In 260 rem. With 46g of H4831sc my velocity with Lapua 139's is 2840 ish with no pressure signs at all. Throat is getting a little long in the teeth. I think I will rechamber to 260AI at 26"-27"( which ever I can make work). Seems my barrel is on the fast side, can't wait to see velocity with 2 extra grains of powder. Hope it will still hold 3/8 MOA.

You should be able to get 3/8 and better with a good load @ 3000 fps easy. My rifle consistently shoots both the 140 gr. Berger L R & 142 gr. Sierra MK equally well at around 1/4 MOA. @ 100 yds.

More boiler room, AND, trimming brass is a once-in-a-blue-moon deal. Can't beat that!

You can still shoot that load fire forming, too.

I looked at the 260AI, then decided to go with the 6.5SLR. Similar performance with 139 Lapua's, 43.5 H4350 , 2920 fps from a 28in barrel. and a long neck. No fire forming. Worked out well - and one of my most accurate rifles. Even using selected Winchester brass.
