260 Vs. 6.5 Creedmore

There is always someone out there that will win with anything they have in their hand. If you were to give someone new a suggestion, would it be a 6,5 Creed or a 6mm to start out with?
My suggestion would be for a 6mm GT. For the reasons stated in my first post.
I am sure in different parts of the USA there are variations on equipment for PRS. In the South East the 6mm are way more prevalent than any occasional 6.5mm in PRS which is what the OP is asking about. I was hoping to help him make some decisions based off what is being used mostly in matches. Ultimately he will go whatever way he is going to go.

Hope this finds you all well.
6br would be my choice….. most people are loading dashers & gt’s down to almost br speeds anyway. Just finicky on feeding being they were intended to be single fed for BR use.

Agreed, also why i was thinking the 6mm GT because it would ease any issues with feeding from a magazine, and you can buy factory ammo as well.
Most of the replies i see here are for NONE PRS type of shooting which is what the OP is asking about and for. Moving and shooting from a position with a repeater bolt action rifle..... some of the replies here really do not add up.

Any way. Hope everyone is getting out to shoot. Stay centered.

He could go with a 6GT but being a newer competitor he would be better off with something to give him a little more barrel life before he figures what he wants. The 6.5 won’t hold him back any in matches at his starting point and gives him more options for ammo, brass and barrels. Just my thoughts having shot the sport for 21 years now.

All them little 6’s are finicky from mags but they are getting better from what I understand….Them 6 creeds are fantastic but a little harsh on barrels.

Yup,. THIS ^^^ And IF, I'm Building another, Accurate LR, Steel, "Play" Rifle ( 600 yds,.. Plus ), I like, both the 6 GT and 6 XC for Performance, Feeding without issues and, the LONGER, Barrel "Life" !
The 6 Creedmoor isn't DYING anytime soon, due to,.. Factory ammo, "Support", tho !

That is a rep it got when it came out and the game was different and people were shooting them at 3190fps and shooting them in matches. If you load the 6 Creed to the lower velocities in the 2850 range like the other smaller cartridges you will get decent barrel life with them.
I’ve actually heard the same.

It was the same when the .243 came into the game in 2004 and everyone was burning barrels out chasing the speed. I kept mine at 2990fps as it was better than the .308 for elevation and wind and recoil was nice and light. I had 1880 rounds on that barrel when I ended up selling the rifle and it was still a 1/2 moa rifle. All but the initial 100 from working up the load were shot in matches and we had some 15-20 round stages at times.
