260 Rem loads, lets see them!

I'm still doing load development, but my ladder testing shows Berger 140 VLD's over 42 grains of H4350 as a promising load. (used CCI LR primers and RP Brass). Loaded to 2.950" (which I found are the lands in my barrel.) This is in my 26" savage Factory Barrel.
I will play with this a bit to see what comes of it.

This is the very first group I shot from my new Bryant Custom .260. Average velocity on this load is 2839fps. The seating depth shown is from base to ogive using a Sinclair "hex nut" bullet comparitor.
I'm going to have to change up this load though. The necked up Lapua .243 brass definitely formed the doughnut on the very first firing. I can easily slide a bullet into a fired case until just short of the neck/shoulder junction, where the bullet comes to a definite stop. For now, I will use my Remington .260 brass, but may try Lapua .260 brass. Hesitant to do so because so many have said they have to turn the necks with the new Lapua .260 brass. That is something I wish to avoid. I any case, this is a good shooting load.

Good loads guys, great to see so many people enjoying the 260 Rem, it's an amazing cartridge.
You should all try the 130g Norma Diamond Line bullets. I have found they have the best BC of any 130g 6.5 bullet (about .590) from my rifle ( yes I used two chronographs to measure BC
Current load is 44.0g of Hybrid 100V for 2900 fps out of a 24" ABS carbon barrel, consistently under 1/4 MOA with a 0.17" best ever 100 yard group
I have over 300 rounds of this load down the tube to date, shot 200+ at Precision Rifle class and felt on par (except recoil) with the 300 Win Mags in the class, at 900+ yards on steel targets you can tell the sound of a 300 Win Mag hit from a .308 Win easily, but my 260 rem sounded about the same as the 300 Win Mag.
Going to try Reloader 17 and Superformance in the next few weeks so more data to come!

The 142 smks fly nice out of my 260 with 42.5 grains of h4350.I shot sub min of angle at 200 easily.

Same recipe except substitute 39.3gr Varget gets 2930fps; 44.0gr RL-17 gets about 3030fps. Accuracy for all loads has not yet been fine-tuned, but is consistently 0.5-0.7 MOA (about all I'm good for behind the trigger).
From a 22" 9 twist Remmy 700:

2.79" OAL
Very mild whitetail load @ 2675fps, but shoots 3-shot cloverleafs @ 100yd and is quite effective on deer.

Just started development with this bullet...Litz G1 .575/G7 .294 makes this a very compelling projectile if you can get speed & accuracy, especially considering they are about $9 less per 100 than Berger VLDs.

I reckon 43.8gr RL-17 puts me at 3000fps and I should be able to get 2900fps with around 44gr H4350...which still handily beats a 140 A-Max @ 2820.

Win 243 brass necked up, neck turned, flash holes deburred. CCI BR-2, 142 smk, 44.5 gr. 4350. Shoots bug holes ! Today in 10 mph wind, shooting same brass and primers. I got a 3 shot 3/4 in group at 300 yds using 140 nosler custom competition, with 44.2 gr 4350 ! These are both loaded to just touch the lands. Rem 700, w/ 30 in. Brux barrel. I already tried the superformance powder. Posted back in May. 3065 fps with 140gr bullets, but accuracy was lacking.

Always shoot 10 shots at around 1.6" at 300yds. Shot for the first time at 600yds and shot a 5shot group @1.9". I was a happy camper.
Currently sizing down 308 lapua brass with .290 necks to begin with. So far it's shooting clusters of 3 shot groups touching. Need to take it out to 600yds next.

It is a bit thicker in the neck area than RP or Nosler, so some folks have had to neck-turn if they have tight chambers. If your chamber is .298 or larger (as my Criterion is) you should be good.
I did find I have to FL size my virgin Lapua brass, otherwise I get substantial pressure signs.
