25x47 Lapua

Has anyone used the 25-47lapua on varmints Or whitetail deer?
Killed 10 deer and 4 elk with mine. 133 Bergers @ 2840. All bang flops. 100-440 yards. All the elk where cows and perfect broad side shots from 300-400 yards. None went more than 20 yards. Is it a little light for elk, yeah, but with a well placed shot in a controlled situation its really nice, eapically with a can.

Lol. It’s shot out. I’m not the greatest at record keeping but I had approx 2200 rounds and it stopped shooting. I shoot a lot with a rage at my house. Sent it back to my smith and went with a 25 SAUM for a little more stank on the 133’s. My wife killed a dandy bull and a cow with it this year 360 and 395 yards. Both where bang flop kills. The 133 is an impressive bullet on game.

2200 rounds mmm Is it noticeable the advantage in the wind compared to say a 6.5creedmoore or a 6.5-47 lapua?

Was good for me in the Wyoming winds. I dont have any experiences with those 6.5’s.

I sent the 25x47 back to my gun smith and he also inspected the bore, which he agreed it looked good. However, he also couldn’t get it to shoot.
Here is a 100 yard target. Before she went I would shoot this at 600 all day every day with multiple powders/loads. That’s a 1” dot for reference. Like I said I don’t keep good track so it could have been closer to 2700 but I really don’t know. Barrels are consumables, and nothing lasts forever. And it spilled a ton of blood.

I will say the new chamber in 25 SAUM on a carbon Benchmark is good shooter with just a little more speed for a true hunting rig.

Didn’t take much effort to do this @ 425 yards with 133 Bergers and H1000.

very nice shoo, you ever play around with the Hornady heavy bullets?

Well my 25x47 Lapua has arrived and it didn’t take long to get started with this one. Was pretty eager to try a x47 Lapua for a few years now. I’m new to the cartridge, actually new to this family of cartridges. I am planning on trying rl16, h4350, varget, n150 and possibly n140 to get some information on this caliber.

To break in the barrel I started with rl16. I picked a random charge of 37.5gr behind hornady 134gr eldm and the results were staggering. I don’t know if I’ve ever gotten lucky like this.

First 3 shots out of the barrel

I didn’t have a chrony that day so I threw up a target at 740 yards and dialed what I thought they might be running and held straight up hoping to find splash for elevation and wind. It was easy to spot trace and easy to spot the splash. I made the correction and sent 4 quickly to just make sure I got the call right and had a .4 moa group at 740 yards. Realizing the potential I ran home and loaded the remaining with the same charge to just break the barrel in and once fire some brass. Upon return a few hours later I shot this cold bore 740 yard group then moved to 600 for a nice 5 shot group

I went on to shoot a long range ladder test the following down

A little pressed for time I loaded 5 rounds for both the low and middle potential node and shot 5 shot groups over the Chrony at 100 yards before having to go pick up the kids. First node shot 2700.2 fps with an sd of 5 and es of 13.3. And the middle node shot 2781.3 with an sd of 2.3 and an es of 6.3.

I am loading up ladders of rl16, n150 and varget with the Berger 135’s to hopefully shoot next week.

OFF TOPIC but still related--how the hell did I miss THIS? Ballistic-X is a 'hand-held' program that creates these group measurements, etc., for EIGHT DOLLARS??????????? And 'all' one has to do is buy and install the software, enter a little data, fotograf the target, and BAM! the magic numbers and image appear?

PLEASE don't make fun of me...I've been away from shooting for several years, so this is very new to me.. I'll SEARCH for it now.

Haha well it is a handy piece for pictures and storage for the loading data books. You do need a form of reference for measurements. Example being if your target has 1” grids it works, where I use butchers paper so I need something like a tape measure to be able to get an accurate reference for the photos .

Would the target dot work as a reference?

The sticker works, just need to adjust the measurement in the app from 1” to 1/2” dot or whatever you’re using. The reason I use to the tape is I carry a tape all the time and when I shoot beyond 300 yards I stack multiple dots or when I’m on steel my aim point tents to be a previous imapct
Or a spray from a paint can and it’s an unknown size.

Anyone have load data with powders other than the mentioned powders here with 130 weight class bullets for the 25 X 47 ? Thanks in advance.
