The above load gets 2750 fps in my 15.5" barrel.wonder how fast you could fling the 70g-75g varmint bullets in a 25BR.
I’m going thru the same questions. The issue I’m having is the mag length will not allow 120gn .117gn would be max.The 6.8 BR wouldn't be any better for bullet selection?? (remember, the 6.8 is a .270)
Last time I checked, there were over 36+ different bullets to choose from, ranging from 70 up to 135 grains. A pretty good selection if you ask me.![]()
I am getting 3227 with bib 88 grain bullets out of mine.shoots in zeros and ones with my krieger 1 in 10 twist barrel with a dose of n 130 powder. the gun is heavy but i take it deer hunting sometimes and i shoot 100 grain ballistic tip bullets at around 2900 fps(250 savage velocities) and it works great on deer. the load is reduced from the 88 grain bib load but still with n130 powder. even if you dont have a neck turn chamber you will need to kiss the shoulder neck junction to get rid of the doughnut at the neck shoulder junction. i use a pma neck turner with the 30 degree cutter to follow the radius of the shoulder. this is my 4th 25 br barrel. There are other dies you use to make it work but i have a 25 br redding die and a buddy of mine had harrell make him a 6br die with the pilot hole opened up with the proper bump. he sent harrell 3 pieces of 3 times fired brass for him to make the proper die. I hope this helps.kyreloader, I've already reviewed is article and I use it as a reference. The purpose of my post is to accumulate other's opinions on this cartridge. Do you shoot a 25 BR? If so, I would like to hear about your experience.
