I used to have a Wby with a 28" barrel. The problem was 25 cal bullet selection. There is no comparison with 6.5 cal.The 257 Weatherby was fast before being fast was cool!!!
Speed may not kill but the bullet action that results from that speed sure does.
An accurate 257 WBY is a killing machine!

Look at the long range ballistics of the .257 vs. .264 bullets. I always thought of the .257 Wby in that regard.80 or 100gr Barnes TTSX. or Berger 115 or 100 Nosler Partition. Shouldn't need any more choices.
i did look at the bullet selection but thought i found some good ones. ill look into it again but you are right much better selection of 6.5 bulletsLook at the long range ballistics of the .257 vs. .264 bullets. I always thought of the .257 Wby in that regard.

im looking for a beltless magnum with the performance of the 257 wby. i will have to get some cases to find out capacities. thanksI did a 25Rsaum for hunting season. The 100's ran about 3200 with room for more. I have a 25-26Nosler to do when I get home this time. That ought to run with your Weatherby. I guess you have the 25 bug also. Almost forgot Preacher did a 25-284 Savage 99 for me. I have a 270WSM that I really like. When I finish my .45 smokeless muzzleloader I'll have a different gun for each deer. I have really enjoyed my old SB13. Fun hobby for sure.

There are no high BC bullets in .25 cal.

thanks for that info- thats very good of you on the reamer offerLook at the 26 nosler. I have the reamer at home. Pm me I'll loan you the reamer for a chamber.
7 WSM gets you close. The 26 nosler is more.
I am just wondering if anyone has built a 25 WSM what velocities you get compared to the 257 WBY?? Thank You
thanks for the info. i do like the sounds of the 25/300wsm. I may just have to try one.I have been shooting .25/300WSM since the .300WSM was SAAMI spec'd (Henriksen reamer) - named mine .257 IdiotMag. With multiple (24") barrels, with Win. Supreme 780, and 110 Gr. BT (G1 BC right at .54), 3540 FPS is easily attainable - this is about equal to published loading DATA fro the .257 WBY and 100 Gr. bullets. Both the 257 WBY and 25/300WSM are great deer, pronghorn, and coyote cartridges. RG
sounds good to me. im gonna try the 257 wby or something close. ThanksI'm enjoying my 257 Bee. Factory 100gr TTSX advertise 3600 fps & they're closer to 3700 fps in my 25" barrel rifle. I have a hand load 100 gr TSX that exceeds 3700 fps with no pressure signs. Need less to say I use that one sparingly.
Happy Trails.

I suggest you take a look at the BIB 110GR BT, along with the Berger 115GR bullets. There are no high BC bullets in .25 cal.
