25-06 powder choice

Ive never shot any bullets that light out of mine but with the heavies I think Accurate 3100 was the best.

Old thread. But with N160 availability popping up in my inbox about once a month I worked up a 120 grain bullet load. Started at 42.5 N160 @2700 up to noticeable pressure signs at 51.5 @3129 in 24" barrel. Accuracy load was 50.0 @3045. I was expecting shootable max at 49 grains. Regular LR primers. It is damn near interchangeable with RE-17 though burn rate charts show N160 is right there with H4831. Just my rifle.

I've had at least five .25-06s since 1965. H4831 worked well in the '60s and continues to work well for bullets of 87, 100, and 117 grain weights. I've also tried some other powders.

In my Ruger 2506 VT 60 g of h4350 75 Vmax just a shade over 3850 fps works very well all the way out to 750 .

Disclaimer take all the appropriate measures and work up to this load if you choose to use it

257 Roberts Ackley with 75 gr Vmax at 3600 fps with IMR4895....

.... the brass lasts one firing, and then primer pockets are loose.

Think you might possibly be loading a tad hot there?

I've got 7X57 brass necked to 257 Roberts. Then fire formed to AI. And have 3 loadings thus far with 120gr Partitions & RL19, and one loading with Norma MRP.

My 257 Roberts is necked down 7X57, that has had at least 12 loadings with various powders and bullets from 75gr to 120gr at +P.
