25-06 Information

What is you barrel twist? I'd like to try the 115 Bergers but am not sure my barrel will agree,
I'm running them in 2 10T's with no problems. However I am at elevation, so that helps (2500-5000 ft.)
Per the Berger stability calculator, they are 1.34 (marginally stable) at sea level. At 2500 they are 1.46 and at my home elevation of 5000 they are 1.61.

The 25-06 is as mentioned above a lot more rifle than most will give reference to. .....

115 gr. Berger VLD-Hunting ..........

Hi,
a question regarding your twist rate in order to be able stabilize the 115 grs Berger VLD's.Do you think the Ruger M77 with 10" rate can't be made it or i waste time to get a try ?:( My intention for future is to use them for boar hunting with long but accurate placed shots during our selection hunt period.
regards

My rifle has a 1 - 10 Twist rate. Stabilizes just fine. Yours should too.

I had 25-06 built before Remington made it legit. Pre- war Model 70, 26' barrel. Killed many deer, antelope, prairie dogs, and gophers. I qualified for the 500 yard club in the Varmint Hunters Assoc. just as they went belly up. It shoots as good today as when new. Excellent caliber for mule deer down, although friends have killed elk with the 25-06. I use 204 Ruger, 223 and 6mm AI for gophers also, but when the wind blows and the P.D. are way out there I reach for the 25. The others are very good at long range, but my confidence is in the 25-06. Install a quality scope, then get out there and enjoy it.

Totally agree. when the wind is pushing the small stuff around at long ranges, the 25-06 will step up to the plate with authority.
