25-06 ACKLEY IMPROVED

Stacy,

You are not alone.

My 25-06 Ackley has been my main deer rifle for the past 3 years. Performance has been very good with both the 110 Accubond and Berger 115 Hunting VLD. The Accubond was pushed at 3450+ with RL17 and the Berger @ 3420 with Retumbo ( 25.5" Lilja 3 groove ). The rifle is a joy to shoot with stellar accuracy, low recoil and excellent performance on deer from 50 to 700+ yards.

My buddy has a near twin to my rifle but with a 24 inch Lilja. He has been using the 100 grain Barnes TTSX at 3550 using RL22 with excellent results as well.

There is nothing not to recommend this cartridge, especially for deer. I love it!

Russ

Thanks Russ

Anyone shooting lighter bullets like the sbk 90gr outta a regular 25-06? Everything online is for 100s or heavier. mostly the 115s

My Grandpa shoots the 25-06AI. Back in the late 50’s when he got his rifle he only shoot the 87gr speer soft point. They no longer make that bullet so he shoots the 85gr BT. Same rules apply for both bullets. Do not hit anything with that bullet before the deer and you will be fine. He is also on his second tube. It took him about 50 years to shoot it out. The kill to shot fired has to be close to 1:1.
