243wssm

i know, not the most saught after cartridge but i have a question for those who would know. i have a buddy who is having terrible time loading this round. Has anyone heard of any issues with it. he has had book loads wreck 2 Browning Abolt Stainless Stalker recievers so far. Dont ask how but it has, with book loads. I ve loaded for 20+ years and never have i heard of an issue where this could happen.

I personally have never had anything bad happen. Mine will handle pressure pretty. But I did have a buddy with a Savage in 25 WSSM and he said his would hit pressure at starting book loads.

But like Larry said without more info we can't help much.

I have had a Browning A-Bolt in .243 WSSM. Never had a problem with the gun.
I have a Winchester Coyote in .243 WSSM as well, all good!

I have loaded for two 243 wssm. One in a-bolt, one in AR. I never had a problem. Did your friend work up, or did he start with max loads. When working with book loads, and there is no min and max loads the loader should start 10% lower from the publicized data. Just a thought, hope it helps.

Lets start with the basics, tell us what powder, primer, how many firings on the brass, which bullet etc, seating depth, does he use a jump or into the rifling? Also when he is using powder, does he level his scale or is it electronic? Is he substituting powder in this enviroment of shortages such as his favorite powder being h4350 and he is substituting IMR4350(this is an example)? What book is he using etc.We need this Imfo to be able to help you otherwise we can only guess, hopefully you will revisit this thread and answer all the questions and then make recommendations based on facts.

After reading an article about the 243wssm it is super important to use less neck tension as it will cause high pressure spikes as the necks are really thick and can cause unpredictable pressures quickly.
