Does anyone have a good load for the 243 winchester with a 75 or 87grn v-max?

Thanks
Matt

Couldn't get the 85 VMax to shoot in my rifles to my satisfaction so I went to the 85 grain Sierra BTHP. 36 to 37 grain Varget with Federal 210 match primer shot in the 1/2 moa range with my four 243's with the Sierra.

Every barrel is a little different. In one of mine the 87 grn V Max over IMR3031 outperforms anything else I tried in that one.

This interesting since IMR 3031 is quite fast for the 243 with this weight of bullet. I've used H 4895 with 75 and 80 grain bullets which grouped fairly well but that's the fastest powder I ever tried in the 243. I agree, every rifle is different and what works in one won't necessarily work in the other one.

Because of its fast burn rate I would have probably never tried it except I read where Walt Berger said good things about it in the 243 and several loading manuals have loads listed for it so I tried it. It worked very well for me with the 87's. I've used H4895 but mostly when I shoot the 105's but that's in a barrel with a 1-7.5 twist. I've switched to H100V for the 105's now.

my best light bullet 243 load is the 70 Nosler Bal Tip and a max load of IMR 4064,,
Hi, I use 75gr VMax pushed by 42gr Varget at 2.710 col. Speed is 3,500 fps in 1 in 10 twist, 22 inch barrel. It is a tack driver...1 hole at 200 yds. My go to bullet for small deer and targets.

my 243 bbl is a Krieger HV .236 8 twist 28 inchs with a Vias brake,,next 243 bbl will be a 30 inch 7.5 twist to try the new 110 SMK,,they will have to be really good to make me switch from the 105 orange box Bergers,,
