.243 win. What reamer

Getting ready to rebarrel a 243. Would like to shoot 95gr bullets up to maybe some 115. Gunsmith has a sammi reamer. Trying to decide if I would be better off to rent a 243 match reamer or go with the sammi reamer. Thanks for any advice.

What shooting discipline?

For hunting I'd choose a 243 SAMMI reamer since I believe it will accommodate reloads and factory ammo better. The last thing you want in the field is functionality problems.

While capable, and l love the 243 Win, it would not be my first choice for a high-volume target cartridge due to barrel life issues unless changing barrels more often than some other more barrel friendly target cartridges is ok with you.

PS: I had one of my re-barreled a few years ago with a Hart barrel, standard reamer. Shoots lights out. :)

Thanks for the info. Thinking of using 95s up to 115 maybe. Mostly for hunting and some target shooting

If I go with a sammi chamber I will probably have a lot of bullet in the case correct ?? Thanks.

Right. I was looking at a 1-8. Found a good deal on a 1-7.5 to.
I have 1 - 7.5 Twist barrel on my 243AI and it shoots lighter bullets all the way down to 55 gr. Nosler B T really well. Have had no issues period with lighter bullets however I am not trying to shoot the riflings out of the barrel with one trip.

I had a 243 done on a saami reamer and had the throat lengthened with a unithroater so a loaded round with a 105 vldh was 2.800 oal,
It was the funnest 900 rounds I ever had. Lol
HENCE WHY,.. I built, a 6 XC and, I expect, to get at LEAST, 2 Times that, amount of,.. Accurate, Shots
The .243 Win ( Unless just used as, a strictly, Hunting Rifle ),.. IS,.. Obsolete,.. IMO
IF, wanting to Shoot,.. Targets, Steel Plates and Varmints, too,.. personally, I'd Scrap the .243 Win "Idea" as they are "Hard" on, Barrels.
Sorry to, BE,.. Blunt and,.. Truthful

I agree but with the 105 vldh at 3300 fps it was so much fun to shoot I couldn’t help myself.
