243 win questions

To all the guys on sight that may be gurus when it comes to this particular round please offer up some suggestions on the following and please dont be judgemental ive shot .223 /.308 and larger but never in between, so i dont know how the 243 260 270 types handle. im rebarreling a savage 12 from 22-250 to the 243 so i dont need a platform suggestion but i was thinking about the barrel company, ive been looking at mcgowan but befor i make a decision let me know your experience with what you may have worked with in the past. Also what weight in grains would you say handles the best im thinking about staying with the 100 grain bullets but for an all around application what would you suggest sometime the best way to get smart is to pick minds so any other suggestions would be nice and THANK YOU

I've got Hart,Kreiger,Pac-Nor and a Shilen in varied 6mm cases 243win, 243AI, 6mm-250,6mm Rem, 6-284. Nothing bad about any of them, but if I had to pick it would be between the Hart or Kreiger A 10 twist would be your best for 100 gr bullets or lighter alltho some VLDs around the 95-100gr weight may or may not stabilize with the 10 twist

I've got a McGowen in .308 and a Shilen in .243 both on Savages, both have been great barrels and wouldn't hesitate to get another, but depending on the intended use of the final product and what you want to invest, I wouldn't count out a Savage take off. Check with Northland Shooters Supply for a fair deal.

Thanks Fool, Its gonna be an all around rifle, i was still looking for a heavy bull conture the weight doesnt bother me ive humped around a 240 bravo through the desert with a combat load of ammo, so not much is gonna tip the scales against that. i guess if i had to sum it up tactical meets practical would best describe it.
