22x47 Lapua questions

I am interested in setting up a 22x47 Lapua for something different for a 600 yard gun. It will probably be a fast twist to shoot 80-90 grain bullets.

What twist would you recommend ? I was thinking 1:7

Any guesses as to barrel life ?

Anybody worked up any loads for 80-90 grain bullets. I was thinking 22-243 would probably be close.

I have a wildcat very similar in capacity to 22 X 47 you mention

I shot a wildcat 22-35 25+ many years.
This is the .35 Rem necked down to .224" cal.
I kept the standard .35 Rem shoulder location, same shoulder diam; and selected a 26* shoulder angle.
Base diam is a nominal .457", shoulder diam .429".
Base-to-shoulder dimenension is some 1.336" or so.
Again, all very close to 22 X 47. The case would hold some 43gr powder; max.

I first shot the wildcat in a 1-14 24" SS Hart.
When that barrel was shot out, I switched to 1-8 K & P
28" SS in a Palma taper.

With the 1-8 twist, I was shooting 75gr "A"-Max over 40.5gr AA3100. With a FED LR BR MAG primer this load went 3,500fps honest from the 28". More accurate was the same powder and bullet load, but configured w/ FED LR BR primer. This load ran 3,420. So, I exchsnged top vel for top accuracy.
Groundhogs and paper targets coudl not tell the difference.

VV160, VV560, and I 4831 did not shoot as well, nor was the case as full. The 40.5gr AA3100 load DID NOT fill the case to base of the VLD bullet either, but... it was getting close.
Accuracy was superb, and I am not that great a shot !
I'm persuaded that the fuller case helped hold down ES and SD.

I'm shooting a larger-cap, 44gr ) 6mm wildcat of late....
It has a longer base-to-shoulder dimen, around 1.435" ),
a nominal .466" base diam; a .431" shoulder diam; and
a 26* shoulder angle. Again, these a pretty close case specs / case capacity to the 22 X 47; my use of 6mm bore for THIS wildcat notwithstanding.

This 6mm wildcat is chambered in a Broughton " 5C "-rifled
29" SS Palma tapered barrel.

Max load densities appear achievable in this wildcat case, when I 7828 is used along w/ med to heavy 6mm bullets.

I am still doing load development and eventual chronographing, but have notable delays in my range time; due to Military obligations.

I can say that in THIS case / case cap, VV560, AA3100, RL-22
were all TOO fast in burn rate; at least to obtain my goal of high load density, ideally, a full case ). I know I can fill the case w/ I 7828 , not I-7828 SSC ) snd shoot 85-90gr 6mm bullets. For live varmint, I am biasing my lad performance more towards accuracy that speed, but I will check vel once
I find the load I like best.

Apples an oranges....perhaps ?!

I DK if that helps, any.

Best of luck in your endeavors,
