22lr vs 223 for long range practice

I shoot a 30/06 out to 1100 yards and have shot 1000's of rounds of .22lr out to 360 yards.
I am wondering if a 223 (have lots of brass but no rifle) or reduced 22/250 with 1:8 twist would be better since it would be more consistant.
A 6 creedmore looks good vs steady diet of 30/06 recoil.

The longer distance you can shoot the better off you will be. A good 223 will get you a lot farther distance than a 22lr will.

If you do want to go the 6 Creedmoor you can shoot it all the way to 1,100yds.

Yes, but will anything be gained for long range practice using a 223 or 250 vs the .22 long rifle?

Long range rimfire practice is popular for tactical shooting practice yet some use a 223 to save the dedicated long range barrel.

BA, Time and practicality come into it. if you still have the 22 you used to shoot beyond 300, and ammo it likes such that it follows the wind, why not use it at a distance that mimics your CF long range drift. Ex: typical wind you shoot LR in gives X MOA drift, so find a range distance to shoot the 22 which gives about the same in MOA. Likely 150-200. Probably see holes on white tgt at that distance, thus immediate feedback. Set some flags scaled to mimic LR, with one at max ordinate distance and height. You would need about 500 with small CF, and a target cam. Further, if you are getting back into shooting after a layoff, you want to enhance your processing speed. Shoot fast, instant feedback, lots and lots of rounds, while watching everything. 22 is the tool

The biggest benefit of the 223 is you can shoot much farther than with a 22. What I have learned is if you want to shoot long range there is zero substitute for shooting long range. No matter how a person wants to shoot just a few hundred yards to get long range practice it will fall short of the reality of true long distance.

Let's say you shoot your 223 just 900 yds. That is 900yds of real world shooting. I hunt at long range. What I do for practice is shoot much farther than I plan on shooting for hunting. It is this real world practice that allows me to get that first round hits at distance.

I have a .22lr rifle I purchased as an F-TR trainer. Anyone that tells you it's easy to shoot a .22lr with good precision at 100 yds (or farther) in even light wind probably hasn't shot one very often. So from that respect, the .22lr can certainly be a tool to improve fundamentals behind the rifle and wind reading skills. However, I find the recoil impulse and bullet dwell time in the .22lr barrel to be so different than my centerfire competition rifles as to be almost completely different in feel. The .22lr simply requires a much different approach IMO to be "driven" properly. Solely for that reason, I think you might be better off using the .223 for practice. The recoil will certainly be far less than your 30-06, but it will save you some coin and possibly mimic the larger centerfire rifle characteristics better than a rimfire. One word of caution: using any much smaller/lighter caliber as a practice tool too often can become an issue if you then start to become sensitive to the recoil of the larger rifle. I always intersperse practice with the inexpensive lighter recoiling practice gun with the larger caliber so as not to become too accustomed to the very light recoil.

I love shooting the 22 lr at 200 and 300 yds . Almost 1 degree of scope incline , 55 min actually . I have enough time to lift my head and hear the hit ( or miss )
