.22lr aluminum barrel, can it be done?

Has anyone tried to make a .22lr aluminum barrel by installing a barrel liner in aluminum round bar? Is it possible or will the gun just blow up?

I would think you can have a very thin steel barrel in an aluminum tube that would work. I know S&W uses a thiner barrel then a larger outer shell and a nut at the end to tension the tube. If it works on a 500S&W I do not know why it would not work on 22.

I have a Parler pistol with an aluminum 6'barrel that has a thin steel liner. The liner can't be more than .032 thick.
My sons shot squirrels at 30 yards with this parlor type target pistol.
