223 twist confusion

I'm running a 1n9 twist with 69gr smks 22grs of 4198 it will hit a half gallon water bucket at 100 yds. or a waterhead with duckfeet wearing alligator skin shoes..actually I had never shot a ms15 that's code till a few months ago it's the perfect utility rifle as I'm finding out.
You are hilarious:confused: Took me a minute to process all the wisdom packed into your post!!

Had my Tikka 595 .222 rebarrelled with a brand new Tikka 1-8 twist. No problems with 45 grain and above. I usually shoot 55grain in it. Some time ago I had a BSA with a Tru Flite barrel that was 1-7 twist (another regretful sale) That rifle would only shoot Sierra boat tail 55's. Anything longer was fine, due to a long freebore, as the rifle had been chambered for 77 g Match Kings by a previous owner. Love the 223 in a bolt gun, which is a good job, as our commie government banned semi-autos last year.

I used to load 55 FMJ pull down bullets for 200 yard standing practice in 1:7 and 1:8 twist barrels. They worked ok and would hold the 10 ring if I did my part. In matches I switched out them for 52 SMK, same powder charge, they were tack drivers. I only shot fast twist barrels and never had a problem using 52-53-55 grain bullets.
