Tom Gillman, gunsmith in Hot Springs Ark. Good shooter in the 60s and 70s. I can't swear that he never used the 222, but his claim to fame was the Tom Cat, basically the same thing as a Bob Cat only using a belted 224 wby case, he built quite a few of them in both 224 and 6mm, claimed it was far superior to anything else. Called it the "Tom" cat after himself.... JohnWasn't there a 22 or 222 Tomcat?? WD
Who cares? Most of these replies are hilarious!12 year old thread
Tell us how to make 5.7x28 brass from .222How about the 22 TCM and the 5.7x28?

not exactly wildcats but can be made from 222 brass and maintain 22 caliber bullet
Do you have a pic of the rifle?222 Revenge...the editor of PS owned this and claimed it shot well in his Superior BR rifle. If anyone knows where that went, I WANT TO KNOW.
One of the all time great pre PPC BR cartridges in .224. I cut my teeth in BR shooting with a "Deuce 35" against PPC's and did okay.I have and shoot a .222 x 35*. Very efficient cartridge.
I do not. He wrote about it, i kept it in my head because i research (and own several) Superiors, but he passed, his wife never returned an inquiry I made, and it was not photographed in the 2nd part of the only article I ever read in PS. I never saw the first.Do you have a pic of the rifle?
How does the 30 Raptor compare to the 300HAM'R from a case dimension/power volume? How do you form the brass for the 30 Raptor?I suppose you could turn the rebated rim down on a lathe
...or .223 Rem for that matter!
simple confusion, I guess!?!
I'm into the 30 Raptor now

Thank you for the comparison of the two cartridges. I hadn't realized that the Raptor was based on the 204 Ruger case, which explains the additional case volume. The reduced neck seems to be geared toward a single shot action or bolt action.Neck expansion and fire-forming are processes I go through.
