Not based on 222 Remington204 Ruger would be one of the more recent
Ha!222 rem mag
Most "wildcats" I've heard of based on 222 neck down; but keeping to the 22 caliber; there's the 22 Bobcat; basically an AI from what I can find. Not much to the body taper, but the 40* shoulder. There are those that say the 223 would benefit from more neck; but perhaps halfway to the 223 neck doesn't buy you a lot in 222 aside from less trimming. Short that's and keep to the 35-45gr and that could be an interesting sub 300y round.what wildcats are based on the 222 rem and still 224 cal?
Yep, 222.5 mentioned on page 80 of PS Benchrest Primer. Also there’s the 222 FBI 40*.In the days where remingtons were really competitive, there were SO many! A good start would be the .222 and 1/2. Remington even made these in the custom shop!! Everyone was trying to make a case that beat all others with the .222 then came the PPC, originally they were 224 bullets then they went to 6mm.
I'm sure there are people here that know the real history. They are just keeping quiet. Gary
And not .224 caliberNot based on 222 Remington

Hard to argue with 20-222and Sierra 39gr blitz though.

A 20-222 doesn’t meet the OP’s criteria.
I'm thinking 222 brass? Maybe some primers?Do we get a prize?
OP specified they wanted to stick with .224 caliber. A 20-222 doesn’t meet that spec.I'm thinking 222 brass? Maybe some primers?
Perhaps the OP is going to set-back a 222 barrel, and has the 222 supplies, hence the question?
Looking like “yes” as the off-topic and downright incorrect replies just keeeep coming...Do we get a prize?
I think the OP lost interest altogetherOP specified they wanted to stick with .224 caliber. A 20-222 doesn’t meet that spec.
Oh my ... thanks for pointing that out.I think the OP lost interest altogether
He was last on here Nov 2019...
The prototype is cute, a slightly shorter 221 FB with a longer neck. From AccurateShooter.com:
