222 Rem. mag in a lever gun, ever made ?

Did anyone make a lever gun in 222 Rem. mag. I see Browning made one in a 222.

Can't say for sure, but perhaps Sako offered their lever rifle ( FINNBEAR ? ) in .222 or .222Mag ??
Offhand, I can't think of a lever gun in .222MAg ever being offered. Hmmm.....

The ".357Maximum" case could be wildcatted into ( basically ) a rimmed version of the .222 .
That would be fairly close to being a " rimmed " .222Mag.

I mention the .357Max case, because of the plethora of .357Mag lever guns out there.
In theory, one of those might be convertable to a necked-down .22-.357Max wildcat.

However, it might then end up being soley a single-load proposition, as magazine feeding of a case/cartridge that length would be problematic in a lever gun initially set-up for .357Mag. Not-to-mention, the need for tubular-magazine compatible bullets.

Going with an actual rimless .222Mag case might also be possible; seeinz' how the rimless .35Rem case has worked rather well in the
Marlin M-336 application. You'd have to be committed to the project, as it wouldn't come cheap !

Perhaps more plausible, would be to take one of the be-zillion .30-30s out there; and convert it to .219 Zipper.
THIS is a chambering Marlin has previously done, however.... finding and affording a good used Marlin .219 Zipper lever gun would be no mean feat. But...making a "clone" would perhaps be the lowest- priced, most practical option. And it should/would " feed ", given use of the correct bullet type.

I own a small Stevens single shot that was re-barrreled to 17-222 rimmed. The brass was bought in the 60's and is Sako brand, it is labelled 222 Rimmed. I never saw a rimmed 222 Mag and have never seen a 222 Rem Mag lever gun...but that don't mean it never happened.

Thanks, I have friend that has a friend that said he had one, but could not remember what brand, I think he is just talking to be talking. I never saw one or heard of one.

nearest thing i can figure is the 22highpower in th mod 99 sav. also the 22-250

never seen any other in a lever.

Old post that I missed when it came up. There is the 5.6x50R Mag, it is basically a 222 Rem Mag lengthened 3mm and a rim added Heym created it for combo guns. I shoot one for coyotes in a Bernardelli 12ga/5.6x50R Mag combo.

Marlin and Win. both chambered the 219 Zipper in lever guns and the 218 Bee.

Savage the 22HP in the 99, I shoot the 22HP/5.6x52R in a BRNO combo gun, killed a coyote at 175yrds with it yesterday.

Rem chambered the standard 222 in the 760.

Sako lever rifle was VL61/VL63 Finnwolf. If I do remember right, it was made only 308 or 243. Mostly ended to US markets, we didn`t understand buy those nice rifles here in Finland. there was also commemorative models for late SCA

You could probably buy a Henry "Long Ranger" and re-chamber or re-barrel pretty easy. It would make a nice working rifle for sure.

Your comment piqued my curiosity, as I swear I saw a lever-action Browning .222 for sale a while back. It appears they did offer a BLR chambered in .222 Remington (not Magnum) up until 1990, and a South Dakota dealer had a special run of a hundred made a few years later.
I’ve been considering a lever action rifle with a detachable mag (to load pointed bullets) for a while, and also have been wanting a .222. Was looking into re-barreling a bolt action for the latter; either the dbm Henry Long Ranger or a BLR in .223 for a lever. If I can find a .222 BLR, I might be able to kill two “birds” with one Browning!
