222 Improved

Anybody out there had any dealings with the 222 Improved? I'm shooting a 221 Fireball at the moment, it shoots really well with 45g Berger match bullets but not with 50 and 52's so I am going to re-chamber in 222 Improved to get the fps up.

Why not go for a match 223 chamber with a twist suited for varminting to shoot your 50-55gr bullets

l think Walt Berger used this round in B.R.comp. at lest one
season and done well with it..
maybe could get some help over on B.R. board....

Jerry,

Many years ago the "Hot Cart" was the 222x35. That was a 222 with a 35 degree shoulder. I am sure that there are plenty of these reamers out there that are gathering dust.

Check with some of the older BR gunsmiths.

Ray,Cheechako) has posted a few times on 222 variants. There's sort of a compendium of his writeups here with the 222 at the top of the page. I know he's mentioned others and, if he stops by this thread, he might list some more.

Maybe someday we'll get lucky and Ray will make a brain and photo dump into a book for all of us.

My favorite 222 Improved, however, is the 223. :)

Jerry, can you still get RWS 222 brass in Europe?
