It seems 221 fireball followers for the Remington 700 short anction platform are finally being released by the hands that must have been hoarding them. Available on eBay and if you google it I saw another gun part retailer is selling them. Finally! Picked up a few for upcoming projects.

And, IIRC, the action cartridge opening has to be the "proper length" or, when the bolt is pulled open, the "short" case pops off the bolt head and drops into the mag well.
Been a BIG problem for trying short rounds (like the .221 Fireball and the 20 VT) on Savage actions so, going single shot by removing the ejector rod and spring lets the case stay on the bolt face till YOU pick it off.
