22 ppc or 223AI

Hi, I´m thinking about new prodect for this summer and can´t dicide wich one to go for that is 22 ppc or 223 AI :-[, the barrel length will be about 22"
and used for foxhunting and varminting.
I own a 6ppc and a 223 so brass is not a problem.

thanks articfoxhunter.

Magazine fed? I would take the .223 . I own a 22ppc varminter but its only a single shot. I don't know how it would feed from a magazine, but mag round capacity has to be less than the 223. I think the 223 A.I. has more fps than the 22ppc?

I would also consider the 22BR for what you want to do, especially seeing as you want to use a 22" barrel! The 22BR would get you to the velocities you want for a varminter and no case forming required. Size 6mm BR brass necks down with a 22BR full length sizing die and you got a very hot little 22 varminter.

Depends on how you'll do it. Nice thing about anything 223 based is the selection of brass. The 223AI is a really good cartridge and regardless of what some people thinks there's no forming necessary. Just load and shoot in the field at faster than std. velocity and get a formed case with each bang. Can't tell you how it'll feed through all different actions. The one downside is that it may not feed well from the magazine of a Rem. 700 action. Some have reported no problems as is, mine wouldn't feed without a little modification. A few little tweeks and it worked fine, but just be aware that it might be necessary.

I shoot a 223 30° improved.
69gr match kings.
Tight night chamber.
Boy! Was it accurate and so heavy it didn't move AI mag feed ..it was uneventful..I dont know what I expected..but I kind felt let down..all that time and money specializing for the 223 improved..
Oh you have alot of brass is not a logical excuse to me any more..my answer to that is (so what, you,me and every one else dose also).

the .223 is kind of a lame performer in my opinion..acceptable on a battlefield..
After building one its like trying to make a race car from a Honda civic...
I'll do it again..but I would go .20 practical..20ppc,22ppc,
, 22br, 22arc something worth squeezing the proven performance out of..you ll have much more fun..

There just isn't enough (improvement) to justify the cost ...just my opinion
