22 Dasher

Here is a picture of the Hornady 62grn ELD-VT in my .025" Freebore 22 DASHER. I'm searching for a starting load to give them a try.

Best load in my 22 Dasher with the Stiller Predator-V action and an 8 twist Shilen barrel.
2nd 22 Dasher rifle with 8-twist Kieger barrel is looking promising as well; I just haven't had good conditions or time lately. Lots of wind.

Out of curiosity, would anyone say that these groups are an accurate representation of what a person can expect from a 22 Dasher? I constantly read/hear about how amazing the 22 BR is regarding accuracy. It seems like the 22 BR can produce groups like this without much load development, or much effort in general. I'm wondering how the 22 Dasher compares.

You should be able to shoot groups at or below .250 for 5 shots at 100 yards. I have shot some insanely small groups with Berger 80.5s and a Beanland 22 Dasher.

GOOD bullets and proper load development go a long way.

I'm looking for a mid-range (300-600yd) prairie dog rifle and I'd plan on shooting the 62gr ELD-VT. I'm not at a point financially where I can have a rifle built yet, but I'm starting to collect the parts and pieces as I can. Seems like the 22BR is the easy button, but if BR brass is still unobtanium, I'd be open to the idea of going with a Dasher instead.

22 Dasher Rem 700
Krieger 8 Twist barrel

This is 3 shots fireforming cases with 50 gr bullets!
Interesting. I would have thought a 50gr bullet would struggled out of an 8 twist at speed. I've run them up to 3600 fps out of an 8 twist 223 without issues. Its good to know that they can probably handle a 10-15% increase in RPM.

Br brass is available. Certainly as much as Dasher.

The brass will certainly be the next thing I buy. I haven't looked for any this week so maybe its back on the shelf. If not, I still have at least a year to find some.
