22 Creedmoor

Was wondering if anyone is using one of these as a dedicated varmint rifle. Interested in loads and barrel specs. Bolt guns please. What brass are the majority using? Anyone playing with Hornady stuff? Thinking I could push 53-60gr vmax pills out at some pace. Got a spare 1.7 twist HV Krieger that would run heavies out well also.

The 22 CM is like a 22-250AI without fire forming and I think it's gaining in popularity all the time. I'd maybe be a little concerned about sending bullets in the 50's out a 7tw though. That'd be a lot of bullet RPM and they could come apart on you. The heavies should work well in a 7tw though. Alpha Munitions is making good 22CM brass.

So it's like a 22/250AI. Same velocities/similar powder charges etc?

I wouldn't use the 7 twist for light pills. I have a spare one I could use for shooting heavies.

I'm shooting a 22CM and really like it. However, I have only tried 75 gr Hornady,80.5 gr Bergers and 80 gr Nosler CC bullets. Honestly, they all shot great. The Berger and the Nosler were best. However, I went with the Nosler because of availability. With the Noslers using 41.0 grs of H4350 I'm getting 3511 fps out of a barrel finished at 28".

80gr bergers 43grs h-4350 @3585fps 28in bbl. I had to neck down 6mm creedmoor laupa brass. this is a coyote killing machine.

8 Twist has seemed to be optimum unless you plan on using 90-95 gr.
Peterson/Hornady/ADG all are making brass now.
I have been running Peterson and it’s really good stuff.
Reloder 26 has been a popular powder giving top velocity and take all the data you see online and velocities with a grain of salt. I am sure folks are getting the speeds they say but I doubt they have pressure tested their loads.
Justsay’n.

I'm getting almost 3600 from my 22-250 AI w/80amax. 30" barrel with 6 reloads on my brass already. It's Winchester brass. Never tested pressure but with the brass looking as good as it does, I don't think pressures are too bad.

Not only are these bullets traveling at these speeds Great for coyotes....but they sure do knock a deer in the dirt. Put those bullets in the shoulder area and go pick them up. I have a dozen straight drops so far. It's my long range coyote/deer killing machine with a 300 yd zero.

PS.... but I'm using 80 gr Amax bullets
