Interesting. I might need monitor this before I order brass. I might consider necking down Lapua brass. Thanks!Because the cases are thicker than the Starline that I'm using and have less capacity. I've also tried Peterson brass in one of my 6.5 CM's that I only use Lapua SRP brass with, and I can't get near the same velocity or powder charge with the Peterson brass.
Alpha and Peterson make great brass, but I can't get close to the same performance that get with Lapua or Starline in my rifles.
Ahh, it was you, lol (trying to find who had reported less velocity attainable due to lower capacity of Alpha and Peterson brass).Because the cases are thicker than the Starline that I'm using and have less capacity. How much mess capacity did you notice...powder or water...if you know? Like 1 grain, maybe 2? Just curious?
This is the type of hot rod velocity that lead me toward this round. What brass did you use?I've been using 41-42 grains of RL-22 under sierras' 77 gr. TMK for 3500FPS. Also suitable for the 80 grain bullets.

This was with Peterson brass (LRP). I'm a little over 1000 RDS. and still shooting good. Inside of barrel doesn't look nice, but as long as it's shootin good, I'm happy. This is the type of hot rod velocity that lead me toward this round. What brass did you use?
Also, have your burnt a barrel out yet (trying to figure out if most people go over 1,000 rounds)?
Thx!

Brass was of good quality, and primer pockets are still nice and tight. Thanks!
And I assume you find the brass very consistent with stout primer pockets?
Sounds like only drawback of the Alpha and Peterson brass is a little less case capacity than the cheaper brass offerings, but that's not necessarily a drawback,,,I suppose putting the capacity somewhere between the 22x47L and 22CM, which isn't a bad thing.
There's a guy on Savage Shooters with tons of statistical data on 6.5CM with IMR4451, convinced me so I got 8lbs before it became unobtanium.I’m getting very small groups with IMR4451 and 95 Match kings, 3180 FPS.
4451 also works well with 90s in my rifle at 3230 FPS.
Not much velocity change with temp either.
For years I always overlooked this powder, I’m glad I tried it because I can save the H4350 for other rounds.
I assume a 7 twist? Surely not 6.5 at those speeds?I’m getting very small groups with IMR4451 and 95 Match kings, 3180 FPS.
