22 Creedmoor load data

Because the cases are thicker than the Starline that I'm using and have less capacity. I've also tried Peterson brass in one of my 6.5 CM's that I only use Lapua SRP brass with, and I can't get near the same velocity or powder charge with the Peterson brass.
Alpha and Peterson make great brass, but I can't get close to the same performance that get with Lapua or Starline in my rifles.
Interesting. I might need monitor this before I order brass. I might consider necking down Lapua brass. Thanks!

Ahh, it was you, lol (trying to find who had reported less velocity attainable due to lower capacity of Alpha and Peterson brass).

How much mess capacity did you notice...powder or water...if you know? Like 1 grain, maybe 2? Just curious?

I’m getting very small groups with IMR4451 and 95 Match kings, 3180 FPS.
4451 also works well with 90s in my rifle at 3230 FPS.
Not much velocity change with temp either.
For years I always overlooked this powder, I’m glad I tried it because I can save the H4350 for other rounds.

It's been a long time since I tested that brass, but it was a pretty big difference.

I've been using 41-42 grains of RL-22 under sierras' 77 gr. TMK for 3500FPS. Also suitable for the 80 grain bullets.

Chris
This is the type of hot rod velocity that lead me toward this round. What brass did you use?

Also, have your burnt a barrel out yet (trying to figure out if most people go over 1,000 rounds)?

Thx!

This was with Peterson brass (LRP). I'm a little over 1000 RDS. and still shooting good. Inside of barrel doesn't look nice, but as long as it's shootin good, I'm happy.

Thanks!

And I assume you find the brass very consistent with stout primer pockets?

Sounds like only drawback of the Alpha and Peterson brass is a little less case capacity than the cheaper brass offerings, but that's not necessarily a drawback,,,I suppose putting the capacity somewhere between the 22x47L and 22CM, which isn't a bad thing.

Brass was of good quality, and primer pockets are still nice and tight.

There's a guy on Savage Shooters with tons of statistical data on 6.5CM with IMR4451, convinced me so I got 8lbs before it became unobtanium.

I assume a 7 twist? Surely not 6.5 at those speeds?

Yes sir, 7 twist, 26” long.
I have a good shooting proof barrel that’s an 8 twist and it shoots the 90s well, but it key holes 95s badly.

I saw this post a year or so ago and had to have one. I use lapua 22-250 FF brass with any large rifle primer i can get hands on. H4350 and sierra 77gr HPBT. 20" K&P barrel and ARC nucleus action. This thing shoots as good during fire forming as after. Txhillbilly's rifle was my inspiration.

75 ELD, RL22, 42.0gr in 32° weather gets me 3375.
43.0 got me 3440 with hot ammo and gun.
I will be tweeking the load once warm weather gets here. I also want to try RL23.

I’ve been running 40.5 grains h4350 in my 22” 8-7 Bart gain twist with Berger 80.5 full bore targets. ADG LRP brass worked the best for me. 3260 fps. Multiple coyote kills from 500-800 yards. Got more velocity and less pressure with the ADG than the Alpha and Lapua SRP brass.

Depending on length and twist. I have had good luck with 4350, 4831sc, retumbo, h1000. I have only tried peterson brass though.
