22 creadmore verse 224 clark

22-250 ackley 52 gr. ELD at 3950 fps. 65 yard zero. My Nephew put all the ballistic info dope into the thermal, not exact but dam close..

I looked at my vid.s on thermal with ballistic. calculator so here are my numbers.

222 yards is 0 MOA
237 yards -.02 MOA
279 yards -.07 MOA
289 yards -.09 MOA
400 yards -3.0 MOA
415 yards -3.3 MOA
436 yards -3.9 MOA All of these coyotes are dead and only one required second shot as it was turning to leave and I took side of shoulder out so gave it second shot for good measures.

I’m building a 22CM now, it will find a place in my rack next to a handful of 22-250s and Swifts. It’s near the top of useable case capacity and top quality cases are available, no fire forming necessary.

i got a stolle action but may use a 700 short and a number 6 barrel contour at 26 inch long.the 60 to 75 grain will work fine and looking at a 1 in 12 twist or a 1 in 10 twist.

Howdy !

If you use the Stolle, they were customarily glued in to benchrest type stocks.

With the M-700, pillar bedding, a “v” block set up or some such; would include
the use of action ”screws”.

These types of considerations could impact your stock choice.

I think the no fireforming necessary is important to consider in this equation. I’ve got an Ackley that was impressive with its accuracy in fireforming, but if you can achieve your desired level of accuracy, speed and case maintenance without major fireforming, that may help make a choice.

The 22-243 I currently have is a surprisingly good balance of simplicity and major speed at the minor expense of brass trimming. Not much different than my Swift, and not so much work that I’m continously working vs. hunting
