22 BR case length

Is the 22 BR Norma case length the same as the 6 BR Norma case length at 1.560? The diagrams of the 22 BR cartridge shows it as 1.520 which fits the "old" Remington chambers. I just went through trimming Lapua brass to fit my nephew's old 40XBR in 22 BR. Sure was a lot of trimming! Hopefully if I get a new 22 BR Norma barrel for my action, the chamber would be more like the 6 BR Norma.

These things vary - it pays to KNOW the reamer being used!RG

It pays to ask but more than likely you will get the Norma version especially if it states 22 BR Norma. Again it pays to ask. I can't imagine trimming that much brass, it might have been easier getting a new nephew. Joking of course

Yeah, I did consider that while my arm felt like it was going to fall off turning the trimmer handle like crazy. LOL I did think about buying the adapter for hooking up and electric screwdriver or drill after that torture session.

Just went through the same thing early 22BR. Neck turn and trim.

And "most" reamers cut the chamber about .020 "longer" than the listed max trim length.

Must have been the older Remington BR specs?
Best to get the "chamber plugs" and measure the chamber so you know for a fact how long the neck area is.
6BR Lapua brass to 22 BR? Neck down, load and shoot. No neck turning needed.

A reloader should never act purely on external source information.
You could have used a chamber gage and found that no trimming was actually needed.

Everyone should do this initial check, even while it's your own reamer and you know what chamber length should be.

Did that before trimming. I think it was 1.534 so it was longer than max trim length.

So your chamber length is 1.534,, how long was the brass & what did you actually trim it to?

It was new Lapua 6BR brass so the length was around 1.556. I trimmed to 1.515.
